Petr Cech has announced he is set to mark his retirement from football by releasing a song with Queen drummer Roger Taylor to raise money for charity.

The Arsenal goalkeeper will hang up his gloves at the end of the current campaign after 20 years in the game, and seems to have turned his hand to music instead.

Money raised will go to The Willow Foundation; a charity established by former Arsenal goalkeeper Bob Wilson and his wife Megs as a lasting memorial to their daughter, Anna, who died of cancer aged 31. It provides special days for seriously ill young adults.

The 36-year-old announced the news with a tweet, saying: “Watch out Ed Sheeran, Stormzy, & others, there’s a new artist in town 😂😂😂🤣. To mark my retirement the legendary Roger Taylor . and myself thought it would be fun to do a song to raise money for the wonderful @willow_fdn. Out next week on Virgin Records. 😂😂 #thatsfootball”

Former Chelsea goalkeeper Cech is known to enjoying playing the drums in his spare time, and Taylor is a fan of the Stamford Bridge club.

In his time as a player, the Czech goalkeeper has 124 caps for his country, won the Czech player of the year nine times, earned the Premier League Golden Glove four times, has four Premier League winners medals, five FA Cup medals, has won the League Cup four times, and both the Europa League and Champions League once each.

The single is available to purchase next week.
