Roy Keane has told Pep Guardiola he was right to have a go at autograph hunters, after the Manchester City boss was filmed lecturing a group who recently requested his signature.

Guardiola laid into the group as they pestered him to sign shirts and other items of memorabilia near his home in Manchester, telling them: "Do you want to live your life doing this?"

In footage that went viral after the Blues beat Salford City 8-0 last weekend, Guardiola scolded the group and told them to do something more worthwhile with their lives.

He also warned them not to come again, saying: “Don’t come again. I won’t tell you again. I know your faces. Go to school and prepare yourself guys. You are young guys, so don’t be here, wasting time."

His outburst was backed by Keane on the latest episode of the Stick to Football podcast, who described the autograph hunters as "an absolute nuisance."

The groups aim to get famous people to sign items that they can sell for a profit, which is why Guardiola targeted them congregating near his home and asking for several items to be signed.

“Good on Pep Guardiola for lecturing the autograph hunters – they are an absolute nuisance," said Keane. "You see them everywhere and he’s dead right.

"Years ago, if you wanted a jersey or a photograph, there was an element of respect. There isn’t that respect now. Now there’s people waiting in the car parks. Also, is that his house? It’s awful if they know where people are living now. They’re idiots, well done Pep.”
