Former Ipswich Town boss and Premier League legend Roy Keane believes the Blues have given themselves a good shot at surviving in the top tier.

Kieran McKenna's men started the season as relegation favourites and only accrued five points from their first ten games.

But they've improved steadily, winning away at Wolves, beating Chelsea at home and most recently drawing 2-2 at high-flying Fulham, a result which means they've taken 11 points from their last ten games.

They still sit in the drop zone, but are only behind Wolves - who play Nottingham Forest tonight - on goal difference, while Everton are just a point ahead.

“They definitely will have had great belief from the last few games… two wins in their last four games," he enthused.

“The win at Wolves was huge and then obviously beating Chelsea.

“One or two months ago you thought it looked a bit too much for them, but they’re hanging in there, and if they can stay up then he (McKenna) would have done - he’s obviously done a brilliant job as it is, but for them to stay up…

“I think that belief, I think they’re learning on the job – obviously a lot of their players actually came up from League One, so they’re adapting, they’re getting used to it, and it’s still a big challenge ahead.

“But the couple of results recently, the two wins, will certainly be a big boost for them.”
