Thomas Tuchel told to pick ex-Newcastle United star no one wanted to leave
Former Newcastle United midfielder Elliot Anderson should be in the reckonning when Thomas Tuchel announces his first England squad this March, according to ex-Tottenham and West Ham boss Harry Redknapp.
The Geordie midfielder joined Nottingham Forest last summer as the Magpies were forced to sell to meet PSR requirements. Neither the club nor the player wanted the move, but Anderson has taken his chance at the City Ground with both hands, becoming a key player for Nuno Espirto Santo as Forest have taken the Premier League by storm.
The 22-year-old scored his first goal for his new club in Sunday's 3-2 win over Southampton, a result which kept Forest in third place, only behind Arsenal on goal difference. Anderson's performances have caught the eye all season, and Redknapp has backed him for England contention when new Three Lions boss Tuchel picks his first squad later this year.

Anderson has previously been called up by Scotland, but has not played a competitive game for Steve Clarke's side and so can still represent England, having played for both Scotland and Englkand Under-21s. Redknapp is in no doubt about Anderson's quality, picking him in his team of the week.
"I’ve liked watching Elliot Anderson this season," he told BetVictor. "I know Newcastle fans weren’t happy that they sold him to Nottingham Forest, and you can see why, he does a bit of everything in that midfield. He’s a proper box-to-box number eight and he’s bound to be in consideration for the England squad."
Redknapp also included another United summer transfer exit, with Yankuba Minteh making his XI after impressing for Brighton at Manchester United. Like Anderson, Minteh was reluctantly sold for PSR reasons, with the winger scoring in the Seagulls 3-1 win at Manchester United on Sunday.
"Yankuba Minteh’s someone that’s caught my eye a few times this season," Redknapp added. "He’s been a bit up and down this season but there’s no denying the threat he possesses. He was superb for Brighton at Manchester United, he’s rapid but shows a lot of quality on the ball and puts a real shift in defensively."
