Three changes, formation switch & welcome return as Frank Lampard names Coventry City team v Preston
Ben Sheaf has returned the Coventry City’s matchday squad as Frank Lampard makes three changes and a formation switch to face Preston North End at the CBS Arena this afternoon.
The Sky Blues skipper is named among the substitutes on a day when the City boss looks to have returned to a back four and wingers, with both Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Emphron Mason-Clark back in the starting line-up to face the Lilywhites.
Oliver Dovin continues to keep goal ahead of Brad Collins and Ben Wilson, while Bobby Thomas and Liam Kitching are partnered at the heart of the back four with Milan van Ewijk at right-back and Jake Bidwell back in the side ahead of Jay Dasilva, who drops to the bench.

Matt Grimes and Josh Eccles will operate in central midfield with Jack Rudoni expected to take up the more advance number ten role behind lone striker Ellis Simms as fellow front man Brandon Thomas-Asante takes a rest. That leaves Sakamoto to operate down the right flank and Mason-Clark to work the left wing as City look for their first league win over North End since 2007.
Jamie Paterson and Norman Bassette offer attacking back-up from the bench at a time when Haji Wright is not quite ready to return and Victor Torp remains out injured with a calf issue.
City: Oliver Dovin; Milan van Ewijk, Bobby Thomas, Liam Kitching, Jake Bidwell; Josh Eccles, Matt Grimes; Tatsuhiro Sakamoto, Jack Rudoni, Ephron Mason-Clark; Ellis Simms.
Subs: Brad Collins (GK), Jay Dasilva, Joel Latibeaudiere, Luis Binks, Jamie Allen, Ben Sheaf, Jamie Paterson, Norman Bassette, Brandon Thomas-Asante.
