The firm of Craig & Coyne was formed in 2022, with Craig having an architecture background and Coyne being a celebrated author (“A Course Called Ireland,” is a personal favorite of this writer) and the editor of the magazine The Golfer’s Journal.

“What makes us such a strong team is that we each bring different and specific skill sets to the table,” Smyers said in a media release announcing the new partnership. “... Tom is one of the most well-traveled golfers of all time, and his passion for golf architecture makes him a rare and valuable asset.”

The combined firm has new builds lined up in South Dakota, Georgia and Florida, as well as a redesign in Indiana.

“I’m forever grateful for Steve’s mentorship; he’s the Mr. Miyagi to my Karate Kid,” Craig said in the media release.
