Three players who could leave Tottenham in January as Ange Postecoglou plots key transfer moves
All eyes will be on Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer market following a host of different injuries across the campaign to date. As was the case 12 months ago, injuries have wreaked havoc on Ange Postecoglou's squad and left him with limited options to choose from in the process.
Spurs moved quickly in the winter market at the beginning of 2024 after securing deals for both Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner. Tottenham supporters will be hoping the club can do likewise this time around, with a centre-back and attacking options required.
But could any players actually head for the exit door in January? football.london takes a look at the candidates below.

Sergio Reguilon
Sergio Reguilon failed to secure a move away from Tottenham in the summer and now he has the opportunity to move on in January. The Spaniard is not part of Postecoglou's plans in N17, although he has come back into the matchday squad recently and made a cameo appearance against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup due to the limited options at the head coach's disposal following an injury crisis.
Whether it is a loan deal or permanent move, the ex-Real Madrid man needs to exit to help get his career back on track. Reguilon will be allowed to speak to foreign clubs from January about signing a pre-contract agreement for the 2025/26 season and beyond, which would be better for him financially as he will have his pick of the clubs on a free transfer and his signing-on fee would be far more lucrative.
Regardless of that, he really does need to join another club in January, even if it is on a temporary basis, just so he can get back on the pitch and play regularly.
Timo Werner
We've decided to include Werner here amid reports from Germany previously that have raised questions about an early Spurs exit. Making an impact in the team at the turn of the year following his loan move from RB Leipzig, the German has been unable to have the same sort of influence this time around.
Werner was in the headlines at the beginning of December after Postecoglou hit out at the player for his display in the draw at Rangers. Amid his form and the previous suggestions about his future, it's hard to see Werner departing in January given Tottenham's current predicament unless of course they replace him.
Tottenham really cannot afford to lose experienced options right now and there is always the possibility that the former Chelsea man hits his stride in the second half of the season if regular minutes come his way.
Tyrese Hall
Tyrese Hall could possibly be a candidate to head out of the club on a temporary basis in January. football.london reported just prior to the closure of the summer transfer market that the midfielder was available for a loan deal if the right club came along for him.
A move away never progressed and the 19-year-old has continued to feature heavily for the Under-21s in Premier League 2 and also the EFL Trophy. After such a strong end to last campaign for the player in the academy and his standout showing in the post-season friendly against Newcastle United, Hall has unfortunately had no opportunities in the first team this season.
It may now be the right time for him to head out on loan and help aid his development in senior football. Spurs shouldn't be short on potential suitors because they have a very talented player on their hands.
