Three unwanted records Hull FC will look to avoid in 2025 including longest losing run
Hull FC are gearing up for another Super League season, with the atmosphere, mood, and soundbites coming out of John Cartwright's camp all positive as they look to right the wrongs of last year.
Aware of the long road ahead, Hull are hoping to become a more hard-working and resilient team this season, with the groundwork put in over the winter to be just that. Overall, the aim is to put a miserable 2024 campaign behind them, one of the club's worst-ever and one that saw just three wins arrive all season, with one unwanted record to shut out as soon as possible and another to avoid. Here, Hull Live crunches some numbers.
End longest-ever run of league away defeats
Hull failed to win a Super League game away from the MKM Stadium last year, losing all 14 league games on the road. In fact, the Black and Whites are currently on an unwanted club-record run of 18 consecutive away defeats since beating Hull KR at Craven Park back in July 2023. However, the first chance to shut that record out comes in round one against Catalans Dragons. Hull's next away games then see them face three Yorkshire opponents in Huddersfield Giants, Wakefield Trinity, and Castleford Tigers, with the side then heading over the Pennines for the first time to face Warrington Wolves in April.

Current losing streak
Hull lost their last nine games of the Super League season, last tasting victory over Wigan back in July. Their current record stands at 13 consecutive losses, with the 2018 season finishing with 11 defeats and 2019 beginning with two before a golden-point victory at Wigan in round three. Scenes. The club also lost 11 games in a row between wins over London Broncos and Leeds Rhinos last year and will want to nip this one in the bud as soon as possible. They start the season against Catalans before hosting Wigan. Next up are Huddersfield, with Leigh Leopards coming to the MKM Stadium in round four and Hull heading to Wakefield in round five.
Challenge Cup shock
Hull will face community club opposition in the Challenge Cup for the first time since the 1998 clash against Ellenborough this year, facing the winners of Saturday's tie between National Conference League sides York Acorn and Oulton Raiders in the third round next month.
And while it's safe to say Hull will win the encounter, which will still have its challenges, they have tasted defeat in the cup to lower league opposition before and will look to avoid the embarrassment again, with Whitehaven defeating the Black and Whites 7-4 up in Cumbria in 1964. That season was truly one to forget for Hull, who finished stone-cold bottom for the only time in their history to date and who only avoided relegation due to a realignment of the league structure to one 30-team competition.
