Ticket prices for tomorrow's PDC World Darts Championship final at Alexandra Palace have gone through the roof. Chris Dobey will lock horns with Michael van Gerwen in the semi-final on Thursday night before Stephen Bunting faces Luke Littler.

The teenage sensation could become the youngest player to ever lift the Sid Waddell trophy on Friday evening – and supporters are desperate to see him make history. Before Littler has even qualified for the tournament decider, ticket prices have climbed to over £1,400.

That's ten times as much as a ticket to the FA Cup final or a hospitality spot at Wimbledon! Over 40,000 tickets for the World Championships were sold within the first 30 minutes of release – and now resellers are looking to cash in on The Nukes' hype.

Chris Newbold has backed the highly-coveted final to be a record-breaking night for the sport. The co-founder of sports hospitality at Vision4Sport said: "Thanks to its electric atmosphere and iconic venue, interest in tickets for Alexandra Palace has always been high and one of the most in demand in sport relative to size of venue, but the Luke Littler effect has elevated that to levels never before seen in darts.

"Stars like Messi, Ronaldo, Tiger Woods and LeBron James elevate interest in entire sports, events and matches into the stratosphere beyond what is normal and that is precisely what we are witnessing with Littler now, in terms of his impact on ticket demand and pricing.

“When an event that already delivers top-tier entertainment to its audience, the presence of a superstar on the cusp of making history creates a unique, ‘I was there’, moment which elevates interest to new heights. It’s telling that with even before Littler has confirmed his place in the final and with a tough semi-final ahead of him, anticipation of him lifting the trophy has sparked record interest pushing the price higher than major British sporting events like the FA Cup final and Wimbledon."

The ticketing expert added: "Last year, Littler faced Luke Humphries in the final, sparking interest due to what many believed would be the beginning of a key rivalry in the sport over the next decade.

"However, this year could be different. The prospect of a Luke Littler vs. Michael van Gerwen final, which would pit the old guard against the new, is in itself a storyline that drives interest to record levels.

"2024 was a record breaking year for live sports within the UK, with international ticket sales rising over 50% for UK fans, and this final could be a real indication of the clamour to be there for the must-see events of 2025."
