We have seen a remarkable resurgence for Tiger Woods over the past months in the wake of his stunning victory in the Masters. The win also made one gambler who wagered $85,000 on him winning the tournament very rich.

On Friday, Woods was asked about that bet when getting in some drives at Pebble Beach ahead of the U.S. Open, and Tiger had a great response (NSFW language):

“Great bet,” Woods said.

But the gambler, James Adducci, followed up that bet with an even bolder risk, putting $100,000 on Woods winning the Grand Slam this year.

To that, Tiger shook his head.

“Dumb*** for the Grand Slam part, though,” he said.

The odds that Woods wins the Grand Slam were at 100-1, though no golfer in the modern era has accomplished that feat. Woods came close in 2000-2001, when he won four majors (the Masters, U.S. Open, Open Championship and PGA Championship) in a 12-month span, but nobody has won all four events in a calendar year.

Woods obviously won’t this year after missing the cut at the PGA Championship. So, yes, he was right about Adducci’s bet.

Woods is only 43 years old, and if the Masters win wasn’t a fluke, he has many more tournaments left to contend in. Perhaps, if Adducci keeps up his unwavering faith in Woods, he will eventually cash in on a Grand Slam bet.
