Josh Rock begins his World Darts Championship campaign this afternoon with a second round clash with Welshman Rhys Griffin at the Ally Pally.

Rock enjoyed a dream debut in the World Championship in 2023 when he won three games before losing 4-3 to Johnny Clayton in the fourth round.

The Co Antrim man exited at the hands of Berry van Peer in the second round last year and is ranked world number 18 going into this year’s tournament.

He’ll be keen to avoid the fate of Michael Smith and Gary Anderson with several other seeded players crashing out in the early stages.

Should Rock progress to the third round of the tournament, he’ll guarantee himself a cheque for £25,000.

When is it on?

The match is on Monday, December 23. It is the third match of this afternoon’s session at the Ally Pally, which begins at 12.30pm. Josh Rock and Rhys Griffin will take to oche around 2.15pm.

It will be shown live on Sky Sports Darts and on Sky Sports Main Event.

Who is his opponent?

Rhys Griffin hails from Llanbradach is Wales and is ranked 122 in the world. However, he claimed an impressive 3-0 win over Karel Sedlacek in the first round last Saturday.
