Munster sit in in fifth place in the United Rugby Championship, three points behind the Sharks in fourth, but Munster have played a game extra. The margins are getting tight now as the province braces for huge coaching changes in the summer and they need to pick up points wherever possible.

Tonight's home tie against an Edinburgh side that has fallen just outside the play-off spots after a loss to Zebre last time out is definitely in must-win territory.

Alex Nankivell returns from injury for the Reds after he was sidelined since December. Sean O'Brien is on the bench for the first time since picking up a leg injury in October.

Calvin Nash and John Hodnett have returned from Ireland's Six Nations camp to start and there are three academy players in the line-up - Ben O’Connor at full-back, Shay McCarthy on the wing and Evan O’Connell in the second row - with flanker Ruadhán Quinn on the bench.

Diarmuid Barron is named as replacement hooker after he was withdrawn as a precaution for Ireland A against England A last weekend.
