Here's your round-up of all the latest Cardiff City news for Thursday, January 2.

Murphy takes swipe at Swansea City

Former Cardiff City winger Josh Murphy nailed his Bluebirds colours to the mast after scoring for Portsmouth on New Year's Day.

Murphy, who once joined City for more than £10m back in 2018, netted the first of his side's four goals in the demolition of Swansea City at Fratton Park, and couldn't help but celebrate in front of the travelling Jack Army.

Shortly after wheeling away, Murphy could be seen doing an Ayatollah in front of the away end, presumably as a cheeky nod to his former employers.

It was a moment that didn't go unnoticed by Cardiff fans.

"Best £11million pounds this football club has spent. Josh you’re redeemed pal," said one fan on X.

"Legendary @joshmurphy65. All the best to #Pompey this season," chimed another.

Murphy currently has five goals to his name following his move on a free transfer from Oxford United in the summer.

Ramsey facing fitness race for Wales

Omer Riza says Wales captain Aaron Ramsey is facing a race against time to be fit in time for his country's World Cup qualification campaign.

The 34-year-old has been sidelined since picking up a hamstring injury on international duty against Montenegro in September, and it remains to be seen whether he will be back in time for the opening World Cup qualifier with Kazakhstan in March.

"Aaron is still rehabbing," said Riza.

"His process is a bit slower because he's picked up these injuries when he hasn't been under loads of pressure in respect of really pushing it.

"He's just been doing his rehab and I think it might be March time for Aaron [to return]."

Riza focusing on points rather than performances

Cardiff City boss Omer Riza admits his side should have collected more points on the road, but insists he's been happy with the standard of certain performances in recent weeks.

The Bluebirds hit the road once again this Saturday, this time making the long trip up to Teesside to play Middlesbrough, and Cardiff fans have had precious little to cheer when following their team away this season.

The victory over Watford on December 29 was Cardiff's first away from home this campaign, although Riza believes there have been positive signs in other recent outings.

"We spoke about the other games - let's not forget the other games. We were good at Stoke and at Coventry," he told BBC Sport Wales.

"Our performances haven't been that bad away from home but we haven't picked up the points that we need so desperately, and we haven't won at home which elevates anxiety and elevates frustration and elevates everything."
