The January transfer window has been open for one week already and Chelsea are yet to conduct any meaningful business.

Gabriel Slonina and Aaron Anselmino have been recalled from their loans at Barnsley and Boca Juniors respectively, while academy goalkeeper Kai Crampton has completed a permanent transfer to Bournemouth. The Blues are yet to announce any new signings, although some may argue the west Londoners do not need any additions.

Chelsea are currently fourth in the Premier League and have impressed under Enzo Maresca this term. The Blues have also already qualified to the knockout stages of the UEFA Conference League after winning all six of their league phase matches.

In truth, there is not expected to be too much action on the incoming front throughout the month with the board not wanting to disrupt the tools Maresca already has at his disposal, football.london understands. That said, however, the club will act if they deem it necessary so it is very much a wait and see what develops type window.

Chelsea are considering recalling Trevoh Chalobah from his loan spell at Crystal Palace, football.london understands, although a decision on whether to bring the 25-year-old defender back to Stamford Bridge this month has not yet been made. Chalobah's current teammate at Palace, Marc Guehi, is also admired by Chelsea although it will likely cost a considerable amount of money to bring the centre-back to west London in January, with the 24-year-old also linked to Newcastle.

As supporters wait and see what the club will do in January, football.london thought it was the perfect time to ask the Chelsea faithful what business they think should be done this winter. When asked in a football.london poll how many players do Chelsea need to sign in January, 69% of those who voted said two or three.

11% of fans believe just one signing is necessary, while 9% believe the club should be signing four or five players. No signings got 7% of the vote and six or more additions came out last with 4%.

Fans were also asked which position do Chelsea need to strengthen the most, with 40% of respondents believing the club need to sign a new striker. Centre-back was the next most popular answer with 34%. Goalkeepers received 14% of the vote, full-backs 9%, central midfield 2% and wingers 1%.

So, it appears that Chelsea would be signing either two or three players this window if supporters had their way, with a new forward and centre-back firmly on the agenda. Whether that happens remains to be seen, although there's plenty of time to still get deals done.
