Tom McKibbin has refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with a lucrative move to LIV Golf. The Co Down star is reportedly being targeted by the Saudi-backed series and is set to join up with Jon Rahm's Legion XIII roster for 2025.

McKibbin enjoyed an impressive season in 2024 and claimed a PGA Tour card in November. The 22-year-old won his first DP World Tour event in June 2023 at the Porsche European Open in Germany.

He is currently playing in the Team Cup event in Abu Dhabi. McKibbin is representing Justin Rose’s GB&I side in the event which is a warm-up for the Ryder Cup. He is also scheduled to compete in the DP World Tour's Dubai Desert Classic next week.

Speaking to Golf Digest Middle East ahead of the Team Cup, McKibbin said he wouldn't be commenting on the LIV reports.

He said: "I'm not going to make any comments this week out of respect for Justin [Rose] and Luke [Donald] and this tournament.

"It's a team event so I'm just trying to do my best for the team and see how many points I can get."

The new LIV season is due to begin on February 6, and could net McKibbin a cool £6m from the Saudi Arabia backed association.

If he makes the switch McKibbin will join fellow Northern Ireland golfer Graeme McDowell who moved to the Saudi Arabia-backed tour in 2022.

McKibbin is set to team up with two-time major winner Rahm, England's Tyrrell Hatton and the USA's Caleb Surratt in the four-player roster.
