Rising Northern Ireland golf star Tom McKibbin could be set for a shock switch to LIV Golf. It is being reported that the Co Down golfer is being targeted for John Rahm's Legion XIII roster on the lucrative tour.

McKibbin enjoyed an impressive season in 2024 and claimed a PGA Tour card in November. The 22-year-old won his first DP World Tour event in June 2023 at the Porsche European Open in Germany.

The 22-year-old is playing in the Team Cup event in Abu Dhabi this week and is scheduled to compete in the DP World Tour's Dubai Desert Classic next week.

However, his future could lie with LIV Golf, according to reports from Spanish media outlet Ten Golf, where he would join fellow Northern Ireland golfer Graeme McDowell who switched to the Saudi Arabia-backed tour in 2022.

McKibbin is set to team up with two-time major winner Rahm, England's Tyrrell Hatton and the USA's Caleb Surratt in the four-player roster.

The LIV Golf season begins in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia on February 6.
