Riza charged by FA

Cardiff City manager Omer Riza has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association after being shown a red card against swansea-city-fc>Swansea City.

The Bluebirds boss was sent off in the final moments of the South Wales Derby - which his side won 3-0 - after becoming involved in a touchline altercation with Swansea midfielder Goncalo Franco and encroaching on to the pitch.

An FA spokesperson said: “Cardiff City’s Omer Riza has been charged with misconduct following their EFL Championship match against Swansea City on Saturday, 18 January.

“It’s alleged that the manager acted in an improper and/or confrontational manner around the 92nd minute and after being sent off.”

Riza - who tragically lost his father two days before the derby - has until Friday (January 24) to respond to the charge.

Salech wants more

New Cardiff City striker Yousef Salech says he wants to "make an impact in each game" after proving the hero for the Bluebirds on Tuesday night.

The 23-year-old - who joined last week in a deal believed to be worth over £3 million - scored a dramatic 97th minute equaliser against Millwall to snatch a crucial point for his new side and send the travelling fans into raptures.

The strike - his first for the club - came moments after he missed another big chance, but Salech kept his composure to cap a successful week for the Bluebirds. Now he's off the mark, the Danish star says he wants to make a difference for his side in training and in matches as they target Championship survival.

"If I'm honest, a big chance came before the one I scored," Salech told Sky Sports after the match. "As a striker, it's about going on and to keep being ready in the box. To sniff out the next chance even if you've missed the previous one. At the end of the day, the next chance is the most important.

"You think about missing one for a few seconds but I know I'm going to get another chance if I keep looking for it. It's about staying ready in the box and finding space and that's what happened in the end."

Salech is settling well in South Wales and is keen to show more of what he can do over the coming matches.

"It's a great crew here, and I'm really happy to be a part of it," he added. "Obviously, my season was built different to this one. It's about finding my feet and being available to push on. I want to give something every time in training and hopefully again making an impact in each game."

Bluebirds comeback 'nearly criminal'

Furious Millwall boss Alex Neil says he side's defending as "nearly criminal" after they blew a two-goal lead to draw with Cardiff City at The Den on Tuesday night.

Calum Scanlon and Casper De Norre's early goals were wiped out by Chris Willock's late first half strike and Yousef Salech's injury time goal as the game ended 2-2.

"We conceded a goal a minute before half-time and then in the last minute of the game so from our perspective that is nearly criminal," Neil told BBC Radio London.

"Both goals, we don't clear our lines properly, kick it straight to them and within one or two touches the ball ends up in the back of our net.

"In that respect we only have ourselves to blame.

"When you are tired that's when you need to dig in and be professional and see the game out. When we score two goals and are 2-0 up, we expected to win the game from there. It's so hard to accept."
