Tonight's Swansea City transfer news as club told striker not the answer and star says he could retire
These are your Swansea City headlines on Friday, January 10.
Goodman: Yates not the answer for Rams
Don Goodman has told Derby County that Swansea striker Jerry Yates is not the long-term answer for their goalscoring issues.
Yates is on loan with the Rams for the 2024-25 season and has hit six goals so far for the east Midlands club.

The 28-year-old joined Swansea in the summer of 2023 and scored nine goals in all competitions across 46 appearances. His contract in south Wales runs until the end of the 2025-26 season, but whether he sees that out remains to be seen.
Sky pundit Goodman doesn't believe Paul Warne's side should make the move a permanent one.
He said Plejmo.com: "Derby County were never going to be a prolific team at this level. None of their forwards have scored many at this level.
"Jerry Yates has scored six in 23 starts and I think he's done really well. But is he the long-term answer in the Championship for Derby? I wouldn’t think so.
"Derby's aim has to be survival and whilst they've done okay, there's only a four-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone. They can't afford to go on a run where they're not picking up points and not scoring goals.
"They beat West Brom on boxing day before losing against Leeds, Josh Windass scored that incredible goal for Sheffield Wednesday after Derby played really well, and they lost against Bristol City
"But if you look at those games, and the loss at Luton, they're not playing badly and have suffered some pretty bad luck. It's been a tough run for them.
"They've got to pick up some points soon as what can look like a safe position in the Championship can quickly turn. Paul Warne will be aware of that."

Allen says he could retire
Joe Allen says he could retire at the end of the current season.
Swans legend Allen, 34, is out of contract when the campaign comes to an end this summer. He has been impacted by a number of injuries in recent times, including a troublesome hamstring complaint, and the midfielder says those niggles will be a factor when he comes to decide on his future in the coming months.
"I personally think about it a lot, I'm sure any player at this stage of their career always has done," Allen said to the BBC when asked about retirement.
"What will happen I couldn't tell you. I'm sure it's a conversation that will be had between me and the club at some point, probably a lot later on towards the end of the season.
"It really hinges on how things go in the next few months. If I stay fit, can help the team and can still perform to a certain level then potentially [I could carry on].
"Without sounding too cynical if there's any injuries or I don't perform then it probably goes the other way."
Allen came off the bench in Swansea's last game to net the equaliser against West Brom. He could return to the starting XI when they face Southampton at St Mary's in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.
"Great to be back out there. I had a frustrating little injury, nothing serious," Allen told BBC Match of the Day Wales.
"Unfortunately with games coming thick and fast you end up losing out more than you'd expect.
"I was really looking forward to being back in the squad and getting back out on the pitch. I've managed to stay fit for a while so it was out of nowhere really.
"Sometimes that's the way it goes, there's not an obvious explanation for why it happens but it was nothing too serious, and fingers crossed between now and the end of the season I can stay fit."
Youngster signs new deal
Swansea youngster Kyrell Wilson has penned a contract extension at the club.
The forward, 20, will now remain in south Wales until the summer of 2027. In a short statement on the club's website, Swansea said: "Swansea City forward Kyrell Wilson has signed a contract extension through to the end of June 2027.
"The 20-year-old’s previous deal had been due to expire at the end of the season, but the under-21s’ striker has committed his future to the club.
"Wilson first joined the Swans on a scholarship in 2021, and put pen to paper on his first professional deal in November 2022.
"He was involved in the first-team matchday squad on several occasions last season, before injuries curtailed his campaign.
"Wilson recently returned to action after a lay-off and scored a brace in the under-21s’ victory over Colchester United earlier this week."
Swansea.com to host Wales Women
The Swansea.com Stadium will play host to Wales’ final home match of the UEFA Women's Nations League campaign.
Wales will face Italy on Tuesday, 3 June (KO TBC), in SA1, following on from matches against Sweden at the STōK Cae Ras in Wrexham on Tuesday, February 25, and Denmark at Cardiff City Stadium on Friday, April 4 (7:15pm KO).
Wales boss Rhian Wilkinson shared her excitement about the upcoming matches: "As we prepare for our first appearance in a major tournament, we felt it was important to give our fans across the country the opportunity to support and celebrate the team in the build-up to the EUROs.
"Playing in Wrexham, Cardiff, and Swansea gives us the perfect opportunity to do so as we look to face tough but exciting opposition for the Nations League campaign. We can’t wait to see the Red Wall turn up in their numbers for these huge games."
