'Toon Baaarmy': Artist creates striking new work dedicated to Newcastle United
An North East artist known for her colourful art has created a distinctly more black and white work dedicated to Newcastle United.
Lucy Pittaway, new piece titled 'Toon Baaarmy,' is a nod to the Magpies and her newly- opened gallery in the city centre.
The Newcastle Lucy Pittaway Gallery, which opened in November, is the artist's eighth venue in the North of England and has welcomed thousands of fans.
The artwork depicts one of Lucy's iconic sheep characters dressed in the Magpies colours, with St James' Park in the background.
The painting went on sale on Friday (January 31) and is expected to attract Newcastle United fans.
The prints will be available at the city's Blackett Street gallery, and also at Ms Pittaway's other locations in York, Harrogate, Keswick, Bowness, Yarm, Richmond, and Brompton-on-Swale.
Newcastle gallery manager, Katherine Adair, said: "Lucy’s artwork is instantly recognisable and we have been warmly welcomed by the people of Newcastle, and visitors to the city, since we opened late last year.
"We know how passionately Newcastle fans feel about their team and we think Toon Baaarmy is sure to become a fan favourite, baa-ing their team to victory!"

Lucy said: "I am incredibly proud to be North-East born and Newcastle and the surrounding area holds a very special place in my heart.
"I know firsthand how important football is to our region, and how strongly people feel about supporting their team and it was a joy to create Toon Baaarmy in recognition of that passion."
While her father was Middlesbrough FC legend Willie Maddren, Newcastle also holds special memories for her as she studied at Northumbria University.
