A highly-accomplished UK golfer has been appointed as a Somerset school's golf performance coach.

Lee Corfield, who played in the 2011 Open Championship and represented Somerset, England, and Great Britain at every level, has joined Taunton School.

He is set to enhance the school's golf provision with his knowledge, skill, and experience.

His role will involve providing specialist coaching, individual lessons, group sessions, and tournament support.

Lee expressed his enthusiasm, saying: "I am absolutely thrilled to become a part of the Taunton School community.

"We have some amazing players here and I can’t wait to support their growth in skills and talents, while taking the provision to the next level."

Lee's successful playing career saw him win the prestigious Lytham Trophy, multiple Nations Cups, and the West of England Championship numerous times.

He also secured a runner-up position in the British Amateur Championship at St. Andrews.

His expertise extends beyond playing as he holds a degree in professional golf and is the lead coach for Somerset Girls at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club, also working with the Somerset Seniors squad.

Daniel Pettifer, director of sport at Taunton School, said: "We are very excited to have a player and coach of Lee’s ability and experience come and lead the golf provision at Taunton School.

"The quality of Lee’s coaching coupled with our new on-site golf simulator will make a huge difference to our students’ development."

In recent years, Taunton School has expanded its golf provision and seen its students compete in county and national tournaments.

The school recently installed an indoor golf simulator, thanks to a generous donation from an Old Tauntonian, to further aid players in practising their skills and techniques.
