Torrey Pines will host a second PGA Tour event in 2025, but it's a course anyone can play
Torrey Pines has two municipal golf courses in La Jolla, just north of San Diego, a North and the South. Both are used for the PGA Tour's Farmers Insurance Open. In 2025, the South will be the stage for the Genesis Invitational, a one-time fill-in venue after the destructive fires near the Riviera Country Club, the traditional home of the Genesis.
Locals in the San Diego area can get a good rate to play the two courses at Torrey Pines. Out-of-towners? Well, you can nab a time with effort, but be ready to fork over some cash.
Whichever course you score a spot on, you're going to play a highly-ranked course. The South sits at No. 42 on Golfweek's Best Courses You Can Play 2024: Top 100 U.S. public-access courses and No. 4 on the Golfweek's Best public-access courses in California. The North course is No. 11 on that list.
Locals not only get a better rate but they get preference as well, as they can book eight to 90 days out, whereas non-residents can only book advance book four days out.

The San Diego park and rec department reports that there's a "limited number of advance times available each day, and times fill quickly. We recommend making reservations as soon as plans allow." Also, there's only a six-hour window to call, as the reservation staff is available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. PT.
What else should I know about booking a tee time at Torrey Pines?
Another way to secure a tee time is to book a stay at either the Lodge at Torrey Pines or the Hilton Torrey Pines. The Lodge tends to be the more popular place to stay but both have an allotment of priority tee times for their guests.
Golfers can also try nabbing a walk-up time. Those go out on a first-come, first-serve basis during the first hour or so each day.
