Tottenham agree transfer for Man City game-changer compared to Bernardo Silva

Tottenham are close to completing a deal to sign highly-rated Manchester City talent Dan Batty, football.london understands.

The 2006-born midfielder has been at City's academy since the Under-8s and has progressed through each age group. Batty, a creative, attacking midfielder, has become a senior figure at Under-18s level this season.

On Thursday, it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that Spurs had reached an agreement with Man City. It is also said that a sell-on percentage has been included. football.london understands the transfer is a free with a compensation fee paid to the Citizens.

Batty looks set to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after an impressive first half of the 2024/25 season. He has scored three goals and assisted another three across the U18 Premier League, FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League.

Earlier this season, football.london sister title Manchester Evening News spoke to the 18-year-old where he admitted which City superstar he looked up to. "I'm quite sharp, like to play fast," he said.

"I'm trying to constantly make the right decisions in the right places," he said. "I try to get goals and assists, impact the game as much as possible. I like watching Bernardo Silva, obviously at City, he's one of the best players similar to me.

"I was here for ten years, a long time now. It's a good feeling being able to come through and still be here as an 18 year old. It can be a good pathway to the first team. Even if my pathway isn't here at City, anywhere I go it will be good to play football [with this education]."

Batty will become the latest wonderkid signing by Tottenham in recent years. Antonin Kinsky, Min-hyeok Yang, Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, Alejo Veliz and Ashley Phillips have all arrived recently.
