Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Micky van de Ven is set return from injury for Tottenham against Elfsborg in the Europa League on Thursday.

Van de Ven has been out since suffering his latest hamstring injury in the 4-3 defeat to Chelsea on December 8.

Without Van de Ven and his centre-back partner Cristian Romero, Spurs have endured a nightmare run of results to leave Postecoglou under pressure.

Van de Ven is in line to feature against Elfsborg but Postecoglou has said Romero is “still a bit of a slow burner” and is still not ready to return.

Postecoglou also confirmed James Maddison is facing three weeks out with a calf strain.

Pape Sarr is fit after coming off in the 2-1 defeat to Leicester on Sunday, while Djed Spence should be fine to face Brentford on Sunday after missing the Leicester game.

"Micky is good to go,” said Postecoglou. “We'll try and get him some match minutes tomorrow.”

On Romero, Postecoglou said: “Cuti is a still a bit of a slow burner and we’re mindful his injury is a bit different. Not on the horizon at the moment in terms of this weekend.”

“Madders [James Maddison] has got a calf strain, he's probably two or three weeks [out].

“Papa [Matar Sarr] is OK, [Yves] Bissouma is available.”
