Tottenham: Ange Postecoglou reveals Heung-min Son injury latest ahead of Manchester United meeting

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Tottenham will need to make a late decision on captain Heung-min Son before Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.

The forward was forced off as Spurs began their Europa League campaign with a 3-0 victory at home over Qarabag on Thursday night.

Son was replaced by Timo Werner after receiving treatment following Dominic Solanke’s goal against the Azerbaijani champions.

Postecoglou revealed the South Korea star was suffering from fatigue in his hamstring and updated reporters at Friday’s pre-match press conference.

"It’s still early days from last night,” he said.

“It’s fair to say the boys are fairly tired, the boys who played. Apart from Sonny, everyone is OK. Sonny, I don’t think it’s too bad. He wants to train tomorrow. We’ll see how he goes in training tomorrow and see where we for from there.

"We’ve got another day up our sleeve to give him an extra chance.”

Postecoglou disagreed with the suggestion that 17-year-old Mikey Moore is too young to start at Old Trafford but said Plan A remains hoping that Son is fit to face United.

“No, I wouldn’t say that. We’ll see with Sonny, but with Wilson [Odobert] out and Richy [Richarlison] out, we’re kind of limited”, the Spurs head coach said.

“But Timo [Werner] and Mikey certainly come into the fray, and we’ve got [Dejan] Kulusevski who can play wide as well. But firstly we’ll just see how Sonny is and decide from there.”
