Tottenham: Antonio Nusa talks continue as Emerson Royal bid rejected and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg decision made

Saudi club Al-Nassr are considering an improved offer for Emerson Royal — but Tottenham would only sell the Brazil defender for big money this month.

Al-Nassr had an opening bid in the region of £20million for Emerson rejected by Spurs, but have not given up hope of landing him.

The offer was considered derisory by Spurs, who do not want to lose the versatile defender mid-season, so Al-Nassr would have to considerably up the stakes to have a chance of a deal.

Emerson joined from Barcelona in a £25.8m deal in 2020 and has made 18 appearances this season, including nine starts.

Meanwhile, Spurs have no interest in loaning out unsettled midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this month, amid interest from Italian giants Juventus.

Hojbjerg wants regular first-team football, but Spurs would have to replace the Dane if he leaves in January and are unlikely to consider a loan deal unless it contains an obligation to buy in the summer.

Spurs remain in talks with Club Brugge for Antonio Nusa, 18, over a deal which would see him return to the Belgian club on loan for the rest of the season.

Spurs want to steal a march on their rivals by landing the highly-rated Norway winger this month, but could still face competition for a deal.

On Friday, Ivan Perisic returned to boyhood club Hajduk Split on loan until the end of the season, when the Croat will be out of contract at Spurs. Perisic, who is currently sidelined with an ACL injury, has revealed he could be fit by April.
