What Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou did to Tamworth supporters as FA Cup kick-off delayed
The FA Cup third round has thrown up a fixture where Tottenham Hotspur want to avoid a potential giant killing. Ange Postecoglou’s side take on Tamworth at the Lamb Ground on Sunday afternoon.
The game is being played on a 3G pitch in front of a sell-out raucous 3,700 crowd. It sees a strong Spurs side come up against Tamworth’s part-time players that includes a zip maker and a builder.
The home fans have been making their voices heard before kick-off, with some chants aimed towards Spurs and their manager, Postecoglou. Before the game, as he made his way to look at the pitch, he was serenaded with ‘sacked in the morning’, with the Spurs boss responded by looking at his watch.

It wasn’t the last time that Postecoglou interacted with the Tamworth fans. In typical FA Cup fashion, kick-off was delayed slightly thanks to a problem with the net, as Tamworth players stepped up to fix the issue, fans were aiming chants towards the visiting manager while banging on the dugout behind him.
Postecoglou responded by initially looking angry towards supporters, before breaking into a big smile and mimicking taking deep breaths as if to calm himself down. Ahead of the game, the Spurs boss spoke about his faith in the squad to show the attitude required to cope with what is thrown at them in the FA Cup clash.
“I've got no doubt the attitude of the players and I think all along the boys have a great understanding of every game's importance and we certainly will go into Sunday's game with the same sort of mindset of making sure that we do things we can control, play our football, put a real big emphasis on the things that we do really well,” he said.
“That's because there's always challenges out there. I get there's there's a fair difference in terms of the levels of football we're playing at, but I'm sure Tamworth see this as a great opportunity for themselves and we've got to be ready for that.”
