Tottenham Hotspur's injury crisis has worsened ahead of their clash with Liverpool in the League Cup on Thursday. They have confirmed that centre-back Radu Dragusin is to have an operation after suffering an Anterior Cruciate Ligament issue.

Spurs are set to visit Anfield on for the second leg of the semi-final clash. They were 1-0 winners over Liverpool in the first leg, although positive results have been rare for the team in recent weeks.

Before their 2-0 win at Brentford on Sunday, Tottenham had lost four Premier League games in a row. Manager Ange Postecoglou has had major injury issues to deal with though, with a significant portion of his squad unavailable.

It is in defence where they have been hit hardest. Starting goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has been absent, along with first-choice defenders Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie.

Dragusin has been used as a back-up option since his arrival last January and now he is set to be unavailable for the rest of the season too.

"We can confirm that Radu Dragusin will undergo surgery for an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury to his right knee," read a statement from Spurs. "Radu will be assessed by our medical team to determine when he can return to training. We're all with you, Radu."

There are also concerns about Van de Ven ahead of the game, as he was not included in the Tottenham squad at Brentford on Sunday. He was seemingly primed to return after playing 45 minutes in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Tottenham manager is set to provide a further update on the shape of his squad at his press conference on Wednesday.
