Tottenham given green light to complete Mathys Tel transfer
Tottenham Hotspur could be one step closer to completing Mathys Tel’s transfer after reports overnight suggested that the 19-year-old’s move to Manchester United had fallen through.
Bayern Munich turned down a loan offer from United for the forward, according to Sky in Germany. The club are understood to prefer a permanent deal, or a loan with an obligation to buy. Max Eberl, Bayern’s director of sport, told the outlet: “Mathys is an incredibly sought-after player. Whether it will be a loan or a sale, we will discuss it in the coming days and hours."
Tel has also been linked to Spurs this transfer window, but turned down the chance of a move earlier this week - after a £50million deal had been agreed. But football.london now understands Tel has made a u-turn and is now willing to make a deadline day move to Tottenham.

The Frenchman signed with Bayern in July 2022 and signed his last contract extension last year to expire in June 2029. He is currently valued at £50million.
This season so far, Tel has played eight matches and 253 minutes in the Bundesliga. He has scored no goals, banked one assist and has a pass accuracy rate of 86.6%.
Tottenham are in need of a striker amid injuries to Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke. Tel, who is said to want to leave Bayern over a lack of playing time, could be a good fit. Last season, he made 41 appearances for Bayern and scored six goals - but started just ten times.
Over the weekend, Tel's Bayern teammate, and former Spurs star, Harry Kane, said: “Mathys is a great young player. I’ve worked with him for 18 months. He has a lot of potential, works and trains hard.
“He can still improve, but he has the right mindset. My advice is wherever he goes, he should make sure he gets game time and experience.”
