Ange Postecoglou may feel that things could not get any worse at Tottenham Hotspur. But the Europa League throws up its own conundrums.

Spurs sit 15th in the Premier League table and the lowest ranked London team in the top flight following a 3-2 reverse at the hands of Everton on Sunday afternoon.

Tottenham's slump goes all the way back to November, with just two wins recorded in the Premier League in their last 13 games. They are now closer to the relegation zone than the top half, despite having scored more goals than every other team bar Liverpool and having a goal difference only bested by the top six.

The horrendous run of form has coincided with a horrific injury crisis for Postecoglou. Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Wilson Odobert and Richarlison have spent much of that tie on the sidelines, while Rodrigo Bentancur has spent a lengthy period suspended, while he has been out for two weeks now injured too.

Davies and Richarlison returned to action at the weekend, but Dominic Solanke, Yves Bissouma, Timo Werner and Brennan Johnson were all ruled out instead, ensuring things did not get any better.

None of that quartet will return for the trip to Germany to face Hoffenheim on Thursday and Postecoglou will have to do without five other players too.

New signing Antonin Kinsky is not registered for the Europa League league phase, so cannot play. He has started all three of Spurs' matches in goal since signing for the club from Slavia Prague.

Djed Spence, who hase been playing at right-back, was not registered by Spurs to play in the Europa League at the start of the campaign, so he also cannot play. Neither was Sergio reguilon, who has seen some game time of late due to the amount of injuries in N17.

Yang Min-hyeok, who has been on the bench recently, will not be playing either as he is a new signing like Kinsky and cannot be registered until after the league phase ends. to add to the woes, Pape Matar Sarr picked up an injury and will miss the clash too.

That leaves Postecoglou with 15 fit first team players - two of which are Mikey Moore and Will Lankshear and two of which are goalkeepers in Fraser Forster and Brandon Austin. Bentancur is another who may or may not be available. Fourteen players will be unavailable for the clash.

Unavailable players: Kinsky, Vicario, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie, Spence, Reguilon, Bissouma, Sarr, Johnson, Odobert, Werner, Yang, Solanke.

It never rains but it pours at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
