Another key player has joined the list of absentees for this weekend's Premier League clash between Tottenham and Newcastle. Heading into the fixture at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Magpies are in tremendous form having won their last four league games without conceding while also scoring 13 goals.

On Monday evening, Eddie Howe's side became the latest team to beat Manchester United with Alexander Isak and Joelinton on target in the opening 19 minutes with those goals ultimately deciding the game. Newcastle moved up to fifth with the three points, eight above Spurs.

Prior to another win for Newcastle, Tottenham drew 2-2 at home to Wolves on Sunday and are now without a win three. A late Jorgen Strand Larsen equalised denied Ange Postecoglou's team with another injury blow also arriving in the clash.

Early into the second half, Destiny Udogie went down holding the back of his leg and was swiftly replaced by Sergio Reguilon. "I think it was a hamstring," Postecogou said after the game when asked for an update.

"Again like I said, we've been relying on a core group of players because we just haven't had the ability to rotate so at some point it was going to catch up with us. Unfortunately it caught up with Destiny." With Udogie now likely to miss a period, he has joined Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies as defenders on the injury list.

Guglielmo Vicario and Wilson Odobert are also also out injured while Rodrigo Bentancur will miss the game against Newcastle through suspension. Djed Spence will return from a ban of his own while Mikey Moore and Richarlison could be back in the matchday squad.

As for Newcastle, Sven Botman, Nick Pope and Callum Wilson are among those dealing with injuries and now Howe has been handed a fresh blow. Late into the win at Old Trafford, Fabian Schar was penalised for a foul on Rasmus Hojlund which saw him pick up a fifth yellow card of the season.

As such, the Switzerland international will be unable to face Spurs due to suspension with the United game as the final cut-off for Newcastle before accumulative bookings for the campaign for a ban rises to 10. With Schar absent, Lloyd Kelly is expected to come into the back four.

The 26-year-old, who was strongly linked to Spurs, signed for Newcastle from Bournemouth as a free agent this past summer. He has struggled for minutes in recent months with his last appearance coming back in November in Newcastle's 2-0 defeat at home to West Ham in which he was booked.

Given his lack of match sharpness, Spurs and Dominic Solanke will be hoping to exploit that possible weakness with Schar set to miss a Premier League game for the first time in three months.
