Tottenham: Heung-min Son ready to start against Brighton, Ange Postecoglou confirms
Tottenham captain Heung-min Son is ready to start against Brighton, Ange Postecoglou has confirmed.
The forward was back at Spurs’ Hotspur Way training ground on Wednesday, just 24 hours after a painful Asian Cup semi-final exit to Jordan, where he was greeted by team-mates and then assessed by medical staff.
Midfielder Yves Bissouma is also back at Spurs after Mali’s Africa Cup of Nations exit.
Asked about the pair on Friday, Postecoglou said: “Sonny got back on Wednesday, did recovery on Thursday and trained with the team today. Biss trained, he obviously joined up as well this week. Definitely [ready to start]. They trained well.”
Postecoglou added that Bissouma had "a slight form of malaria" before AFCON but it has since "cleared up".
Postecoglous is still juggling a few injuries in his squad, with Giovani Lo Celso nearing a return and Ryan Sessegnon trying to shake off a thigh injury but Manor Solomon has suffered a setback.
Postecoglou continued: "Gio trained all week but he's obviously missed a fair bit of football so we'll have to see if we give him another week or not.”
He added: [Solomon] had another procedure on Monday on his knee. Nothing major but we're still looking at another two or three weeks."
Brighton have lost just one of their last six Premier League games but have also picked up just four wins since late September.
