Tottenham hope, Arsenal set-piece concern, Son and Gabriel goals - North London Derby predicted
The second North London Derby of the 2024/25 season will be played at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Tottenham Hotspur make the short trip across the capital to face arch rivals Arsenal. The Gunners are without a win in three matches and Mikel Arteta knows three points will propel his side into second place, four points behind leaders Liverpool.
Spurs, meanwhile, go into the game after being taken to extra-time by non-league side Tamworth in the FA Cup on Sunday. Ange Postecoglou's side are currently 13th in the Premier League but a win at Arsenal could really kick-start their season.

The North London Derby is often a fierce encounter and Tottenham will be looking for revenge after being beaten 1-0 in the reverse fixture in September. It's a fixture where you can normally expect goals, lots of drama and maybe even a red card. Ahead of the clash, football.london's writers try to predict what will happen on Wednesday evening.

The big one. The North London Derby is often a fixture that brings great entertainment for the neutral and I expect this trend to continue tonight. I'm predicting lots of goals.
Tottenham have shown their class when playing against the so called bigger sides this season and Arsenal's lack of confidence could play into their hands. Thomas Partey may need to play at right-back given the fitness concerns surrounding Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori so Son Heung-min could have some joy on the left hand side. I'm backing the Spurs captain to get on the scoresheet.
While Arsenal are struggling to create in open play, they are incredibly dangerous from set-pieces and Tottenham are just not good at defending corners and free-kicks. Another Gabriel header goal could be on the cards.
Score prediction: Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham.

An Arsenal fan friend of mine is extremely pessimistic about tonight's game, going as far as to say 'I think Tottenham will win.' It's in my nature, as a Spurs fan, to be pessimistic myself.
Arsenal have not been getting results of late, but it's fair to say they are creating plenty of chances. At some point they're going to take some of them.
Spurs were very good against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, with a bit more of a pragmatic approach from Ange Postecoglou. Then, a somewhat changed team, was pretty poor against non-league Tamworth in the FA Cup. It really is a case of which Spurs turns up.
Given it's a North London Derby, you'd expect good Tottenham to be up for it. The return of Richarlison definitely helps, particularly if we're struggling up top as we have done on a number of occasions this season.
I can't see Arsenal failing to score again, but with the Gunners having a few defensive issues themselves, I can't see Spurs not scoring either. I'm going to sit on the fence and go for a score draw.
Score prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Tottenham.

North London Derbys usually have an element of jeopardy to them due to the state of the table. In recent years it has been Arsenal going for the title or Tottenham in a battle for the top four. Last season they were both true at the same time.
When the two teams met in the reverse fixture it was a statement of Arsenal's resilience and grit - characteristics often associated with champions. Spurs were meek and lacked any creativity or spark. What has followed means there isn't the usual heightened backdrop to this game.
Liverpool are far enough ahead and in good enough form to think that winning the league isn't really on for Arsenal, especially in their current blunted form and injury hit guise. For Spurs, each game that passes appears to add pressure to Postecoglou and just getting into the top half would be nice.
So there is something to play for here but it isn't the normal pressures associated with derby day. The fight is to not be the crisis club in north London, and to be the one pilling pressure on the other.
Given how open Tottenham are there's a chance that even Arsenal manage to score an open play goal against them. Meanwhile, they should have enough going the other way to cause problems for Arteta's faltering side. A score draw is usually a safe bet for these games.
Score prediction: Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham.
