Tottenham have been boosted by the return of Ben Davies ahead of their crunch Premier League clash with Everton on Sunday.

Davies has been out since suffering a hamstring injury on at Bournemouth on December 5 but the left-sided defender is back in training and available for the trip to Goodison Park.

His return is a boost for Ange Postecoglou, who also hopes to have Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven back this month as the Spurs injury crisis slowly starts to ease.

With Romero, Van de Ven and Davies all sidelined, Postecoglou has been forced to play 18-year-old Archie Gray out of position at centre-back alongside Radu Dragusin.

Gray has really impressed in recent weeks but Davies being back is good news for Postecoglou ahead of what feels like a big game for Spurs after their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in the north London derby on Wednesday.

Speaking on Friday, Postecoglou said: “Coming back, Ben Davies should be involved.”

Postecoglou hopes to have Romero and Van de Ven back “in the next couple of weeks” but said: “We’ve got a lot of games before Micky, Romero and Destiny [Udogie] are back in the fold.

Postecoglou has also said Timo Werner facing four weeks out with a hamstring injury, and confirmed Spurs are assessing Brennan Johnson after he suffered a calf injury in the Arsenal game.

“There's a couple still sore from mid-week, just waiting to see how Brennan is, he's got a bit of a calf complaint, and Biss has been sore as well, so just waiting for information on them,” he said.
