Just when Ange Postecoglou thinks he's getting a couple of Tottenham players back from the treatment room, so he loses another one or two.

In many recent games, Spurs have had up to double figures when it comes to unavailable players, including those injured, ill or suspended. Rodrigo Bentancur has joined the latter camp after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season in the 97th minute of the 2-2 draw with Wolves on Sunday.

The Uruguayan had to make it through just another couple of minutes to have his yellow card count wiped out as it was the 19th game. It means that just when Postecoglou gets Djed Spence back from suspension for the match against Newcastle on Saturday, so he loses Bentancur again for the same game.

That's not to mention all of the other missing players, so here's a look at all of Tottenham's injury news and when those squad members are expected to return to action for Postecoglou in the weeks or months ahead.

Guglielmo Vicario

There was some good news at least visible on Sunday and that was that Guglielmo Vicario is no longer using crutches to get around and instead is simply wearing his protective boot on that right foot fractured in the win at Manchester City last month.

"He's going well, typical of Vic, he's pushing every boundary," said Postecoglou last week. "Obviously, he's still a fair bit away, but whatever timeline that is, he will make sure he's back as quickly as possible. He's still very much around the group. We saw him last night, he's also training every day. He's so invested in what we're doing, helping the keepers, helping the whole group. He's one of the leaders and, yes, he's progressing well."

Return date: Postecoglou said 'months rather than weeks' at the time of the injury which suggests another month at least.

Richarlison

The Brazilian has had a nightmare with injuries since joining Spurs and this season has been no different. The club had been taking it carefully with him, only for Richarlison to badly injure his hamstring while setting up Dominic Solanke's goal against Aston Villa.

Postecoglou called it a "significant injury" at the time and finally the Brazilian is expected to be back in group training this week when the players return on Wednesday after a couple of days off.

Return date: Might be on the bench for the Newcastle game if everyone feels he's ready.

Cristian Romero

The Spurs vice-captain returned from a toe problem to face Chelsea only to last just 15 minutes before picking up a new muscle injury.

"He felt something in his quad," Postecoglou said after that defeat. "He trained really well. He wasn't the one I was worried about, to be honest, but it's just the way the season's going for us unfortunately. So we just have to wait and see."

Reports back in Argentina suggest this month that Romero will be out for six weeks after the latest injury suffered on December 8.

Return date: Six weeks would mean a mid-January return for the World Cup winner.

Mikey Moore

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder was catching the eye before picking up a virus that hit him hard for weeks. Postecoglou and Spurs have been taking it cautiously with the talented teenager.

Earlier this month, the Tottenham boss told football.london: "I want to be as transparent as I can, but this is a 17-year-old boy. I don't like talking about what they have and what they don't have. It's nothing serious, but you know, he's 17. We're going to take our time, and I don't like this kind of constant, not from you by the way, but I've just heard other bits and pieces of people speculating.

"Come on. I mean, like, if it's your 17-year-old son, you don't want everyone to know what he has or hasn't got. It's nothing serious. It's nothing long-term. It's just that he's a young lad and he's only 17, and he's a big part of this football club, and we will protect him, and we'll be guided by how he feels, how he recovers from, you know, an illness. Like I said, young people will recover at different rates.

"He'll be back. He's still here. He's part of what we're doing, and he'll be back in the next few weeks, but again he's missed a lot of football. So whether we bring him back the first team or he needs to play [for the U21s], we've got to bear in mind that he's 17."

Moore is nearing a return and 11 days ago, Postecoglou added: "We'll need to get a least a couple of weeks training into Mikey and get him back up to full speed. Hopefully he is not too far away."

Return date: Potentially back in training from Wednesday but Postecoglou might be cautious about putting him straight into Saturday's squad.

Micky van de Ven

Like Romero, Van de Ven returned against Chelsea only to immediately return to the treatment room and in his case it was another hamstring problem.

"Van de Ven and Romero are both chugging along," Postecoglou said a fortnight ago. "I think both, to be fair, will be in the new year. When..? It's not as significant an injury as it was last time with Micky but, with having the setback, the medical team is just going to make sure he is right to go so both will be (back) in the new year at some point."

Return date: This looks like a mid-January return albeit with caution over a further setback.

Ben Davies

Yet another re-injury as Davies felt his hamstring when returning to training last week after hopes that he would feature against Wolves.

"No, he's ruled out. Unfortunately, he had a setback in training, so he's probably out for another couple of weeks," Postecoglou said in one of his many injury-related answers.

Return date: Early to mid-January.

Destiny Udogie

The young Italian joined the hamstring crew when he went down early in the second half on Saturday after making an unused overlapping run down the left.

"I think it's a hamstring," Postecoglou told football.london. "Again, like I said, we've been relying on a core group of players because we just haven't had the ability to rotate, so at some point, it was going to catch up with us. Unfortunately, it caught up with Destiny."

The way Udogie struggled to even walk off the pitch and down the tunnel suggests that this was a serious muscle injury. We will find out a more definitive answer from Postecoglou at his press conference on Friday as scans are clearer after a few days when swelling goes down from injuries.

Return date: Could be a while if his exit was anything to go by.

Wilson Odobert

The French winger first suffered a hamstring injury against Coventry in the Carabao Cup in September. Then Odobert returned to action in the final few minutes of the Europa League game against AZ Alkmaar in late October only to suffer another problem which required surgery at The Princess Grace Hospital in Marylebone, London.

The club confirmed the following day that he "underwent surgery to his right hamstring. The 19-year-old will continue to be closely monitored by our medical team to determine when he can return to training".

Postecoglou told football.london last month that "obviously Wilson will be out for a fair chunk of the season".

Return date: In 2025.
