Tottenham learn huge Trent Alexander-Arnold injury update before Liverpool Carabao Cup clash
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has ruled out England star Trent Alexander-Arnold for their crunch Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Tottenham Hotspur.
The 26-year-old was forced off with a thigh injury during Saturday afternoon's 2-0 win against AFC Bournemouth. Scan results returned positive news that he will not be side-lined for an extended period.
Instead, Alexander-Arnold has avoided a serious problem but faces a race to be fit for Liverpool's Premier League showdown with rivals Everton, on February 12. But the Reds' head coach has confirmed that he will be unavailable for selection on Thursday night (8pm) with the thigh issue.

"Yeah, he's going to miss the game tomorrow night. And we have to see if he's able to play on Sunday," said Slot. "But what we do know is he's not available tomorrow night.
"You saw he left the pitch with pain in his leg. That's why he will miss the game tomorrow. But he's already on the pitch, not with the team but with the rehab coach.
"Let's see how long it's going to take. We don't have many injuries apart from Trent now for maybe a few days."
Ange Postecoglou's side will be hoping to defend their slender one-goal lead going into the semi final second-leg at Anfield on Thursday. Lucas Bergvall's strike currently separates the two sides but with mounting injury problems, Spurs are outsiders for the trip to Merseyside with a date at Wembley for the League Cup trophy at stake.
In Alexander-Arnold's absence, Northern Ireland talent Conor Bradley will likely deputise in his place on Merseyside.
