Ange Postecoglou will expect to have a new forward player at Tottenham Hotspur before the North London Derby against Arsenal next week.

The second North London Derby of the season will be played at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday, January 15. Arsenal won the reverse fixture at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium 1-0 thanks to a Gabriel Magalhaes header.

Tottenham have not beaten Arsenal in their last five meetings and will not go into the fixture in the best of form in the Premier League, without a win in their last four.

However, they already have one new signing to throw into his first North London Derby, with Antonin Kinsky arriving in a £12.5million deal from Slavia Prague last weekend. The goalkeeper made his debut against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg and impressed, keeping a clean sheet as Spurs won 1-0.

But there could, and perhaps should be a new forward through the door too. Speaking earlier this week, when asked about helping Dominic Solanke out, Postecoglou said: "Hopefully in the very near future we get some help for him and then I think we’ll see him go to another level."

When pushed on whether help meant players coming back from injury or new signings, Postecoglou added: "Both. It's hopefully what we can do but I wouldn't suggest tomorrow."

There has not been a signing made since Postecoglou made those comments prior to the clash with Liverpool, but given what he said, one may be made before the Arsenal clash.

So when does a new signing have to be made in order to play against the Gunners? Premier League rules stipulate that new signings must be registered with their clubs by 12pm the day before a fixture. This means any new signing must be in place by noon on Tuesday to play in the North London Derby.

Spurs have been linked with Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain, with talks ongoing over a deal. Marcus Rashford is also of interest, given his situation at Manchester United, although no discussions have taken place as yet.
