Tottenham collapsed from 2-0 up at half-time to lose 3-2 at Brighton, bringing their winning run to an abrupt halt.

Goals from Brennan Johnson - his sixth in as many games - and James Maddison put Spurs in complete control but Brighton scored three times within 21 minutes of the restart.

Yankuba Minteh capitalised on a mistake from Destiny Udogie to halve the deficit and Georginio Rutter made it 2-2 with a low finish.

Former Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck headed home Rutter’s cross to complete the turnaround.

Here’s how we rated the Spurs players…

Guglielmo Vicario 6

Little he could do about either goal. Saved smartly from Welbeck and Kaoru Mitoma either side of the interval.

Pedro Porro 5

Struggled to contain the outstanding Mitoma, and was caught the wrong side of the winger for Brighton’s first goal. Some of his passing was impressive but he had a tough afternoon defensively.

Cristian Romero 5

The warning signs were there when Welbeck got beyond him twice in the first half. Always looked uncertain against the forward.

Micky van de Ven 4

Lost his composure in the second half and was at sea for Brighton’s first two goals. His poorest performance since Spurs’ 4-0 defeat at Newcastle last season.

Destiny Udogie 3

Weak for all three Brighton goals in surely his roughest afternoon in English football. Was he unfit or just out of sorts? Either way, he cost Spurs. Went close to making amends with a shot saved by Bart Verbruggen.

Rodrigo Bentancur 6

Pressed fiercely by Brighton whenever he had the ball, making for a tricky match. Failed to cut out Rutter’s cross for Welbeck’s goal.

James Maddison 6

Owed his goal to a howler by goalkeeper Verbruggen but was excellent in the first half, playing a huge part in the opener too. In common with his team-mates, looked lost after the break.

Dejan Kulusevski 7

Very impressive in the first half and worked tirelessly throughout, getting up and down the pitch with impressive energy.

Timo Werner 5

Took just 15 seconds to escape behind Brighton’s high line but overhit his cross. Finished with an assist after a simple cut-back for Maddison but failed to make the most of a series of good positions.

Brennan Johnson 7

Made it six in six with another confident finish with his weaker left foot. Should have added another just before half-time but blazed over the bar.

Dominic Solanke 7

Celebrated his return to the England squad with a line-breaking assist for Johnson and also involved in Maddison’s goal.

Subs

Yves Bissouma (Bentancur 78’) 6

Lucky not to make contact with Minteh after a desperate lunge in the box.

Pape Matar Sarr (Werner 78’) 5

Could not help Spurs to regain control in the middle of the park.

Mikey Moore (Maddison 84’) 6

Put in a couple of crosses from the left in another lively cameo.

Not used: Forster, Spence, Dragusin, Gray, Bergvall, Lankshear.
