Tottenham player ratings vs Tamworth - Werner woeful, Porro poor as Son and Kulusevski save day
Tottenham needed extra-time and the cavalry to overcome National League side Tamworth in the FA Cup third round on Sunday afternoon and here are our Spurs player ratings.
Ange Postecoglou picked a mostly strong side in midfield and defence but the battling hosts still managed to take the game to extra-time as the Premier League visitors struggled to get to grips with the fight of the non-league outfit as well as their 3G artificial pitch as they got themselves swept up into a cup tie.
The game did not swing their way in front of goal until Postecoglou eventually sent on the cavalry for extra-time in the shape of Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Djed Spence. The trio did the trick against the tiring Tamworth players as first Pedro Porro hit a short free-kick to Brennan Johnson and the Wales international's low cross bounced off the knee of Tamworth's Nathan Tshikuna and into the net.

Spurs doubled their tally against the part-timers when Kulusevski fired a low shot into the far corner after Son picked him out in the box. The result was sealed against the battling hosts when Brennan Johnson curled in an effort after good work from Spence.
Here are our Tottenham player ratings:
Antonin Kinsky
A very different challenge for the young Czech goalkeeper in his second game for Spurs. His distribution was good on the 3G surface and his handling was excellent throughout, most notably from set pieces and low throws which will have been some preparation ahead of Wednesday's north London derby. 7
Pedro Porro
Struggled with Tamworth's wide play throughout but did at least play a key part in the first goal when it finally came with his quick, clever free-kick. Gets an extra mark for that. 5
Radu Dragusin
The Romanian relished the physical battles on the day even if the surface gave him some worries at time. Came off after 90 minutes which hopefully was just a precaution. 7
Archie Gray
Another game as a centre-back under his belt and the 18-year-old once again looked unflappable and in control on the whole. 7
Sergio Reguilon
Played two hours of football which was more than he's played in total in recent years and in the main he did what was asked of him. 6
Pape Matar Sarr
One of Spurs' fresher players but lacked composure with his play on the whole. 5
Yves Bissouma
Probably Spurs' best starter on the day and he was a clear level above, admittedly as he and every Spurs player should have been against the part-timers. 7
James Maddison
Captain for the day and had most of Spurs' best efforts in the first half. 6
Brennan Johnson
Struggled to get past his man for much of the game or provide quality but did play the ball through that Werner missed and gets two extra marks to save his rating for his extra-time moments that included the low cross/shot that led to Spurs' opening goal and then he scored himself with a good finish to wrap up the victory. 6
Timo Werner
Yes, he got past his man a couple of times but couldn't convert a one-vs-one against even a non-league side and on too many occasions his final ball was poor. Played as the central striker which wasn't the best position for him, but just will not trust his pace in a race for a ball with an opponent. Such a frustrating player and the travelling Tottenham faithful were tiring of the German's inconsistent play long before Postecoglou took him off. 3
Mikey Moore
Looked understandably rusty in the first half after a couple of months out of action but shook that off with plenty of impressive dribbles in the second period. Played longer than Postecoglou really wanted him to after so long out but it will have done him good. 6
Subs
Lucas Bergvall
Made a difference to the midfield and brought extra purpose to the passing when he came off the bench not long after the hour mark. 7
Dominic Solanke
Found it tough on the artificial surface and in an ideal world it would have been Will Lankshear who would have come on if Spurs were ahead. 5
Son Heung-min
Brought the quality and incisiveness in extra-time that Werner lacked and grabbed an assist for Kulusevski's goal. 7
Dejan Kulusevski
Showed his extra quality and took his goal well before winning the ball back to set up Johnson for his goal. 7
Djed Spence
Came on at centre-back and played his part in the second goal with a sweeping pass to Son and went on a raiding run in the build-up to the third goal. 7
