Tottenham to send Yang Min-hyeok on loan to QPR amid injury crisis
Tottenham striker Yang Min-hyeok is set to join QPR on loan until the end of the season.
Yang, who arrived at Spurs this month from Korean club Gangwon FC, completed his medical with the Championship club earlier on Wednesday.
The highly-rated teenager has been training with the Spurs squad and has been on the bench three times without making his first-team debut.
Despite the growing injury list at Spurs, the club have allowed him to leave on loan. It is hoped the exposure to regular minutes will help the 18-year-old adapt to English football.
Explaining the decision to send Yang on loan, Ange Postecoglou said: “Just to give him a chance to settle in to a new culture, a new environment, new league, new country.
“He's very young and we feel he needs to be allowed to settle. And with our current situation, the last thing I want to do is throw in another young player.
“We've got enough that we're exposing, they're doing awfully well. He's obviously a long-term investment for the football club and we've got to do the right thing by him.”
Yang, who signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Spurs, scored 12 goals and managed six assists to help Gangwon FC end the season as K-League runners-up.
Spurs are preparing for their Europa League clash against Elfsborg, in which they hope to confirm a top-eight finish. Yang, having arrived in December, was not registered for the squad.
Richarlison, the club’s only fit senior striker, was able to take part in opening training on Wednesday having on Sunday been forced off inside an hour of the home defeat to Leicester.
Will Lankshear, 19, is also eligible for the Europa League, and scored against Galatasaray in his first start for Spurs.
