Tottenham set for Manor Solomon injury boost ahead of Man City FA Cup showdown
Tottenham winger Manor Solomon is hoping to be back in first-team training early next week and is targeting a return to action in the FA Cup fourth round tie at home to Manchester City, scheduled for the weekend of January 27-28.
Solomon has been sidelined since the start of October after suffering a meniscus injury to his right knee in training, which required surgery.
His return to contention is set to be a boost to a Spurs squad which could be without captain and talisman Heung-min Son until mid-February due to his Asian Cup commitments with South Korea, while Ivan Perisic has been ruled out for the rest of the season by head coach Ange Postecoglou.
Solomon, 24, joined Spurs on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer and made six appearances, including three starts, before his injury.
He is hoping to be fit enough to be involved in the intriguing FA Cup tie against the holders at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which is sure to be picked for television.
Postecoglou's options in the final third have already been boosted by the return of Ryan Sessegnon from a long-term hamstring injury in Friday's win over Burnley, while Spurs are on the verge of completing the signing of Timo Werner on a six-month loan deal from RB Leipzig.
Bryan Gil could be allowed to leave the club on a permanent deal this month, with Fiorentina reportedly interested in the Spain international, while Postecoglou has said that youngster Jamie Donley would benefit from a loan.
