Ange Postecoglou looks set to have a new Tottenham player he can call on for the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool on Wednesday evening. Spurs have been ravaged by injuries this season and now an illness bug has swept through the squad.

For the Premier League clash against Newcastle, Fraser Forster was missing with the second-choice goalkeeper joining the likes of Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero and Guglielmo Vicario on the list of absentees. As such, Brandon Austin was required in between the sticks with the 25-year-old making his senior debut.

Because of issues at the back, Spurs have acted quickly and agreed a £12.5million deal plus add-ons with Slavia Prague for Antonin Kinsky. It has been claimed that he will have a medical after the match with Newcastle and therefore his arrival could be announced swiftly.

The 21-year-old has kept 14 clean sheets during his 29 appearances in Czech Republic and boasts an impressive 83.9 per cent pass success rate in the Europa League. With Vicario still out and a quick turnaround to Liverpool, Forster may not be fully fit to play and thus Kinsky could come in for his debut just a few days on from signing.

However, Austin impressed against the Magpies and could therefore easily be given the nod to start consecutive games even if Forster and Kinsky are available. Regardless of if he features, Spurs look to have solved any goalkeeper issues for the long-term.

In terms of players possibly returning for Liverpool, the likes of Ben Davies, Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are still expected to be absent. "Ben [Davies], Micky [van de Ven] and [Cristian] Romero around the same time, they're all slated to return at the back end of January," Postecoglou admitted in a press conference.

However, Mikey Moore and Richarlison could come back into Postecoglou's thoughts with the attacking duo both having missed a significant period.
