Ange Postecoglou is counting the cost of Tottenham's slow start to the January transfer window when it comes to the outfield players the Australian desperately needs.

Spurs moved quickly to sign a goalkeeper in 21-year-old Antonin Kinsky but have not moved to address the problem areas in Postecoglou's depleted squad such as a centre-back, left-back or the attacker that the Australian has consistently and publicly said he was hoping for during this window.

The 59-year-old needed the new players early in the window to help him rotate a tired team but now 17 days into the window, the club have not managed to add to a squad that Postecoglou has frequently said needed help. The north London derby defeat at Arsenal on Wednesday night brought a tired performance from the visitors as they let a 1-0 goal lead slip after Son Heung-min's strike to go down 2-1.
