Tottenham 1-3 Brentford LIVE! Premier League result, match stream and latest updates today
Brentford shrugged off an eight-month ban imposed on striker Ivan Toney as Bryan Mbeumo scored twice in a 3-1 win at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday in their penultimate Premier League game of an impressive season.
Harry Kane's 28th league goal of the campaign, a stunning free-kick, put the hosts ahead and they dominated before half-time in their last home game of the season.
But seventh-placed Tottenham's hopes of qualifying for Europe suffered yet another blow after the break as Cameroonian forward Mbeumo dispatched two clinical left-foot finishes to turn the game on its head in the space of 12 minutes.
It prompted home chants against chairman Daniel Levy, who admitted in his programme notes it had been an “immensely difficult season” for the club. The volume increased when Yoane Wissa wrapped it up for Brentford in the 88th minute from Mbeumo's pass.

Ryan Mason explains Spurs collapse
15:03 , Marc Mayo
Ryan Mason has suggested that Tottenham’s lack of fitness played a key role in their defeat to Brentford on Saturday.
“I think there’s many different reason why intensity drops,” he told BT Sport post-match.
“I think if you want to be an intense team you have to work and train as an intense team, that’s probably been a difficulty of getting this role at this stage of the season having worked a different way for a period of time.
“But I thought we were keen to show what we want to be and become. In the first half we did that but we probably couldn’t sustain it for 95 minutes.”
Spurs’ lap of appreciation and awards up next...
14:46 , Marc Mayo
Bit of a strange atmosphere inside the stadium now, with far more leaving than staying for the end-of-season awards & lap of honour. Some boos as a highlights montage of the season (described by Daniel Levy as 'immensely difficult' in his programme notes) begins.

FULL TIME! Tottenham 1-3 Brentford
14:31 , Marc Mayo
A huge cheer from the away end before a big old boo from the remaining home fans.
14:26 , Marc Mayo
90+5 mins: Chalk up another Mee block! A superb stance in front of goal denies Porro’s drive.
The corner bounces clear to the Spaniard, who lumps one at goal again and again sees a Brentford body block it!
14:25 , Marc Mayo
90+4 mins: Slick play with Richarlison found in the middle around Son and Kane.
It leads nowhere though, and is all a bit too-little, too-late.
Chance!
14:23 , Marc Mayo
90+2 mins: RAYA, TAKE A BOW!
Superb stop denies Richarlison’s header, onto the post! And he then saves another effort from the Brazilian!
From the corner, Son fires into the crowd before Moura scuffs wide.

83 mins: This game is in full drift mode.
Angry calls from fans come as Davies hesitates on the ball, Spurs not having the confidence to play it direct and with tempo like in the first half.

80 mins: Calls for a penalty from the home fans as Richarlison hits the deck up against Henry.
Nothing in it, really, and Kane shot over the bar moments later anyway.

78 mins: Another defensive Brentford change as Zanka replaces Schade.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Stadium

Brentford have done so well to turn this game on its head and take the sting out of the occasion.
The atmosphere has gone flat and Spurs’ forwards, who were so lively in the first half, have barely had a kick since the interval.
14:06 , Marc Mayo
75 mins: Kulusevski and Royal are the next to be taken off by Spurs, Richarlison and Porro their replacements.
14:04 , Marc Mayo
73 mins: Completely flat atmosphere inside the stadium, very little sense of pushing the team on for a late rally.
An all-too familiar feeling falling across the home fans.

Two terrific Mbuemo finishes have turned this game on its head, massively denting Spurs’ European hopes. Mason has called for Lucas Moura, who is going to get a farewell appearance in this stadium. Penny for Richarlison’s thoughts.

59 mins: A chance for Tottenham to gain some respite amid continued Brentford pressure as Danjuma receives treatment on the turf.
13:48 , Marc Mayo
57 mins: Over from Kane!
A speedy attack from Spurs leads to Kulusevski finding the striker after neatly beating Mee... yet the shot is far too high after a slip from Kane.
13:48 , Marc Mayo
56 mins: More threat from the visitors as a cross is cleared for Mbeumo to rifle a volley straight back at them with change - Forster holds.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Stadium

Spurs have been made to rue those missed chances in the first half by a smart finish from Mbeumo.
Brentford on the beach during the first half but they have come out with fresh impetus (and could still finish above Spurs this season).
13:45 , Marc Mayo
53 mins: Spurs straight back on the front foot, Kulusevski getting himself caught in two minds before a weak pass to Royal is cleared.
A corner comes in, eventually leading to an offside Kane’s shot meeting instant resistance.

What Ryan Mason will want from Spurs
13:33 , Marc Mayo
More of the same will be the order of the day from Tottenham, whose front-foot approach has worked so far.
That second goal is a necessity however, to avoid this becoming their latest missed opportunity.
Ryan Mason may also want to reinforce his right flank too, where the Bees have focused their attacks.

Plenty to ponder for Brentford
13:27 , Marc Mayo
The visitors have failed to manage a shot on target while leaking nine Spurs efforts so far.
Thomas Frank may be worried his midfield is being bypassed too easily in that sense, while wanting his threatening-looking counter-attacking system to be a little more efficient.

Chance!
13:17 , Marc Mayo
45+1 mins: MEE WITH A STUNNING BLOCK!
That should be 2-0, as Kulusevski does incredibly well to keep an attack going under pressure from Henry.
Slick passing between Davies, Son and Kulusevski sees Son dart in behind, cut back and have a shot well blocked!
13:16 , Marc Mayo
45 mins: Four minutes added on.
13:16 , Marc Mayo
44 mins: Raya comes off his line to pick an overhit ball by Bissouma, playing an audacious first-time pass on the volley which manages to find a Brentford man!
Bissouma then launches a pretty reckless challenge on Wissa, which fortunately for him only draws a booking. It was a bit borderline...
13:14 , Marc Mayo
42 mins: Kane is basically playing in the hole with Kulusevski up front, and he does very well by the halfway line to squeeze out an attack.
Son spins in a good cross for Danjuma to stoop and head across goal... and wide!

39 mins: What can wrestle this game from a low-key end ot the half?
Spurs are happy to knock it around for the time being, attempting to draw Brentford in before launching a quick attack.
Henry turns the ball behind for a corner after Royal’s latest overlap. Raya easily collects the set piece.
13:08 , Marc Mayo
37 mins: After a spell of treatment, it looks like the Brentford goalkeeper will continue.
13:06 , Marc Mayo
34 mins: A bit more patient from Brentford this time as Schade drifts in from the left and a lay-off is hit first time by Jensen... over the bar!
And a break with Raya down injured.
13:02 , Marc Mayo
31 mins: It’s not quite coming together every time for this Tottenham attack, yet the home fans may not mind that.
Kulusevski in particular is getting about a lot and showing plenty of invention, which is making for an entertaining display - if not the most clinical.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Stadium
13:00 , Marc Mayo
Making his first League start since New Year’s Day, Bissouma is really catching the eye in the Spurs midfield. His lack of minutes this season is one of the many frustrations about Spurs’ campaign.
12:58 , Marc Mayo
26 mins: A dangerous header by Mee from Jensen’s long throw is spotted nicely by Forster before Spurs launch a counter.
Danjuma just isn’t sure whether to shoot or find a team-mate before a pass is snaffled up by the defence.
Off the line!
12:55 , Marc Mayo
24 mins: Henry heads clear Royal’s goalbound header!
A delightful flick from Kulusevski had set Son free down the left, with a neat cross dinked to the Brazilian.
The following corner is nodded wide by Sanchez.

20 mins: Harsh foul on Skipp for getting the better of Onyeka, just as he did to win the free-kick that led to the goal.
This time, Jarred Gillett penalises the Tottenham midfielder despite him seeming to get the ball.
Ryan Mason is booked for his protests.
12:50 , Marc Mayo
19 mins: A round of applause for Lucas Moura, who trots out for a warm-up down the touchline on his last home game for the club.
12:48 , Marc Mayo
17 mins: Brentford certainly want to attack with pace and tempo, this time coming forward quickly to win a foul off Bissouma.
It gives the visitors the chance to load the box, Jensen’s ball beating everyone.
12:44 , Marc Mayo
13 mins: Good clearance behind his own goal from Davies onto Forster, inside his six-yard box after Schade’s dangerous run.
Brentford look to be targeting that left wing.
Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Stadium
12:44 , Marc Mayo
I’m not sure that technically counts as a direct free-kick given Kulusevski rolled him the ball but regardless it’s a stunning strike from Kane. Goal number 28 in the Premier League this season.
What a player.
Chance!
12:43 , Marc Mayo
11 mins: Son bursts in from a Kane through ball but allows Hickey to get back and put him off with the ball caught under his feet.
Still, the winger flashes a shot at Raya’s goal which the keeper parries away.
12:41 , Marc Mayo
9 mins: Well that truly was something. Does it count as a free-kick goal? Kulusevski nudged it with a quick backheel before Kane darted to the right and curled in a beauty.
Goal No28 of the Premier League season for the striker.
GGGGOOOOOAAAAALLLLL!!! Tottenham 1-0 Brentford
12:38 , Marc Mayo
7 mins: Quick movement from Tottenham sees Skipp upended by Onyeka’s late challenge.

Harry Redknapp urges Spurs to ‘have a go'
10:52 , Marc Mayo
Ryan Mason should shun making a decision between starting Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison - by starting both of them in a four-man attack.
That is according to Harry Redknapp, who told iNews: “I’d like to see Tottenham have a go.
“I would play with a forward line of Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son and Harry Kane. I’d have a go. I’d think ‘You’ve got four incredible forwards here, let’s go and win football matches’. They don’t, they go one up, play three at the back. Have a go!
“When I managed Tottenham – I was back with the boys last weekend [for a charity game] – I played two wingers home and away, Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale. I played two up top, whether it was Defoe, Adebayor, Pavlyuchenko, Crouch. We played with two forwards.

Spurs play their final home game of what has been a rollercoaster season with Brentford today’s visitors.
This lunchtime kick-off could go a long way to deciding Tottenham’s fate, particularly in terms of European qualification.
Victory could be enough to see off the threat of Aston Villa, who beat Ryan Mason’s side a week ago yet face tricky games against Liverpool and Brighton to finish the season.
But a top-six finish will likely require favours against both Villa and the Seagulls along with a perfect record in their remaining games.
Brentford, meanwhile, begin life after Ivan Toney. The striker begins an eight-month ban this week, raising big questions over where the Bees will find their goals.
Sat ninth in the table but almost certainly too far back for a late European finish, they are at least set to end up in the top half.
