Tottenham 4-3 Leeds LIVE! Bentancur goals - Premier League result, match stream and latest updates today

Tottenham vs Leeds - LIVE!

A dramatic late double from Rodrigo Bentancur fired Tottenham to a thrilling 4-3 victory over Leeds to help them finish the first half of the Premier League season with a much-needed win. The visitors had gone ahead three times in London, but tasted defeat after Uruguayan midfielder Bentancur firstly levelled in the 81st minute before he grabbed what proved to be the winner two minutes later.

It meant Rodrigo's impressive double and Crysencio Summerville's opener for Leeds counted for little after Spurs mounted several fightbacks to end a tough period with a crucial three points. Recent home league defeats to Newcastle and Liverpool, in addition to their Carabao Cup exit at Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, had contributed towards boss Antonio Conte reiterating the need for patience and time.

Injuries had played a big part in their mixed form during a period where they played 13 matches in 43 days but they concluded it with victory in a seven-goal thriller after talisman Harry Kane netted and Illan Meslier scored an unfortunate own goal. Read back the game below with our dedicated match blog, featuring expert insight and analysis from chief football correspondent Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium!

Tottenham Hotspur FC 4 - 3 Leeds United FC

17:00 , Alex Young

What a remarkable, remarkable game. Spurs three times come from behind to win as Kulusevski and Bentancur step up late on to secure a big win.

Leeds was fantastic, but the quality eventually shined through.

Full-time!

16:53 , Alex Young

95min: A huge, huge win for Spurs. They needed that. They are up to third, for now.

Game of the season, so far?

16:52 , Alex Young

93min: Kane wins a free kick in the corner. Not long left now.

16:49 , Alex Young

91min: Four minutes added on.

16:48 , Alex Young

90min: Kulusevski is replaced by Lucas.

What a player he is.

RED CARD!

16:46 , Alex Young

87min: Leeds are falling apart. Adams gets a second yellow card.

GOAL!

16:43 , Alex Young

83min: Bentancur has done it again!

Kulusevski does all the hard work to get to the byeline and cut the ball back for Bentancur to slot into an empty net.

Remarkable game. Remarkable.

GOAL!

16:40 , Alex Young

81min: Doherty’s superb cross into the area is headed as far as Bentancur, who has all the time in the world to level things up.

Just under 10 minutes left to find a winner.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

16:38 , Alex Young

"Just as Leeds could feel aggrieved at Kane's goal, so Spurs have a case that Rodrigo's second should not have counted, with Bentancur appearing to be caught in the build-up. Nothing doing though and Conte side will have to respond yet again to avoid going into the break with three straight defeats."

GOAL!

16:35 , Alex Young

75min: Rodrigo has fired a fine effort into Lloris’ far corner!

Spurs are convinced Bentancur was fouled in the build-up...

16:34 , Alex Young

74min: Leeds seeing plenty of the ball as we tick towards the final quarter of an hour. Spurs need to start forcing the issue.

16:29 , Alex Young

71min: Kulusevski being double-teamed by Struik and Adams, the latter gets a booking for his troubles.

16:26 , Alex Young

69min: Bissouma is on for Richarlison.

16:26 , Alex Young

68min: Another Spurs corner almost lands on the head of an unmarked Kane at the back post, but Meslier spots the danger and palms the ball clear.

16:24 , Alex Young

66min: Bissouma being readied.

16:22 , Alex Young

63min: Kulusevski’s run is spotted and the winger ducks into the area and fires wide of Meslier’s near post. Doherty was in space at the back post, but I’m not sure the angle for a pass was on.

16:18 , Alex Young

60min: Greenwood sends it over the bar.

16:17 , Alex Young

58min: Sanchez and Doherty replace Emerson and Lenglet.

Sanchez’s first act is to give away a free kick on the edge of the area.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

16:15 , Alex Young

“A Davies collectors’ item has levelled it but you’d be mad to bet on that being the last goal of the day. Both sides are so open at the back and carrying a threat going forward.”

16:14 , Alex Young

55min: Sanchez and Doherty appear set to come on.

GOAL!

16:10 , Alex Young

52min: Spurs are back on level terms as Davies drills the ball home from the edge of the area.

Kane’s initial effort was denied from close range and Davies shot was too strong for both goalkeeper and a defender on the line.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

16:08 , Alex Young

”The lesser spotted Djed Spence has just been sent to warm up, receiving a huge cheer from supporters in the north stand.”

16:08 , Alex Young

49min: Roca is shown a yellow card for a studs-up challenge on Dier.

That could have been nasty.

16:07 , Alex Young

48min: A promising move for Spurs as Richarlison finds Emerson in space down the right, he in turn feeds in Kulusevski who looks for Dier to swing in a cross but it’s hit far too hard and sails out of play.

16:06 , Alex Young

46min: We’re back underway.

16:03 , Alex Young

A change at the break for Leeds as Greenwood is on for Gnonto.

No changes for Spurs.

Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

15:51 , Alex Young

“Spurs go in trailing yet again after conceding two awful goals. On the plus side, it’s a proper game - feisty and open - despite the circumstances, so anything could happen after the break.”

Half-time!

15:48 , Alex Young

47min: A few boos as the half-time whistle goes.

Spurs, again, let themselves down by silly mistakes at the back.

15:46 , Alex Young

45min: Richarlison goes close to an instant equaliser, but can't get enough on his shot.

Two minutes added on.

GOAL!

15:44 , Alex Young

43min: Rodrigo fires home a volley just inside the area after Spurs fail to deal with a corner!

15:41 , Alex Young

40min: Rodrigo into the wall and Roca fires the follow up straight at Lloris.

15:40 , Alex Young

39min: Leeds win a free kick on the edge of the area after Aaronson is brought down by Davies.

15:39 , Alex Young

36min: Wow, Koch has just gone right through Richarlison. They both look to be OK.

Someone should tell him there's a World Cup next weekend.

15:35 , Alex Young

33min: Kulusevski is down after a tussle with Cooper. The Leeds man threw his arm into the winger’s face, but no card is shown.

15:34 , Alex Young

30min: One player who doesn’t appear at all concerned about missing the World Cup is Davies. Throwing himself into everything.

Dan Kilpatrick at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

15:34 , Alex Young

“Spurs were fortunate that Kane’s goal was allowed to stand after Lenglet’s challenge on Meslier. One of those where the VAR was always likely to go with the referee’s decision though.”

15:30 , Alex Young

28min: Kulusevski is in the mood and almost sends Spurs into the lead but Meslier does well to deny him one on one.

GOAL!

15:27 , Alex Young

25min: Kane slams the ball home from the corner!

Leeds are claiming a foul, and VAR will take a look...

15:22 , Alex Young

21min: Straight up the other end Summerville should make it 2-0, but Lloris makes a good save.

The Leeds forward was in acres.

SITTER!

15:21 , Alex Young

19min: Emerson looks certain to score after a dart into the area by Davies, but the defender clears the goal about three times over.

Kane was begging for the tap in.

15:17 , Alex Young

16min: Spurs have responded well to going behind, finding plenty of space down the right to get into promising positions.

Kulusevski involved in everything.

15:16 , Alex Young

13min: Tottenham concede first for the EIGHTH game in a row.

They go close to levelling matters after Kulusevski cuts back for Emerson, whose shot is parried.

GOAL!

15:11 , Alex Young

10min: He’s done it again!

Summerville scores his fourth in as many games as he holds off Dier to fire past Lloris.

15:10 , Alex Young

9min: Another smart move from Spurs as Richarlison spots Dier is acres on the left and the centre-back drills a ball towards Kane in the centre, but it’s overhit.

15:09 , Alex Young

8min: A nice break from Spurs through Kulusevski, who exchanges a one-two with Perisic before driving into the area, but there’s no white shirt in the centre to cut the ball back to.

Frustrating.

15:06 , Alex Young

5min: Dier almost gifts Leeds an opener with a weak backpass to Lloris.

Becoming a theme with him.

15:04 , Alex Young

3min: Plenty of high press from Spurs early on, with Richarlison forcing Meslier to send the ball straight out for a corner.

Perisic delivers but Leeds clear.

Kick-off!

1min: ...and we’re underway!

Almost time

Here come the teams. We are minutes away.

A big result to kick off the Premier League weekend as Brentford beat Manchester City thanks to two Ivan Toney goals.

Spurs could really do with a fast start today, which have been nonexistent of late.

They haven’t scored in the first half of their last eight games, and they gone 2-0 down in their previous five domestic matches on the trot, which is inexcusably poor.

14:10 , Alex Young

Just one change for Leeds as Wilfried Gnonto comes in for the injured Jack Harrison.

Patrick Bamford and Mateusz Klich remain sidelined.

14:09 , Alex Young

So, it's two changes for Tottenham as both Kulusevski and Richarlison come in.

It's a big boost for Spurs, who have struggled for creativity in recent weeks. Sessegnon and Bissouma make way, as expected.

Leeds XI

...and here’s how the visitors look.

Tottenham XI

Both Kulusevski and Richarlison start.

Team news is imminent.

Conte allays Kane fears

13:44 , Alex Young

Antonio Conte in the week somewhat set off alarm bells by claiming Harry Kane was struggling with fatigue, and has now backed the forward to enjoy a "fantastic" World Cup.

Kane in midweek started his 21st consecutive match for Spurs this season at the City Ground and 12 of those have occurred during a packed six-week schedule but there will be one final domestic fixture for him to focus on before his attention turns to the World Cup in Qatar.

"I think and I am sure Harry is going to play a fantastic World Cup because in this season he was never injured, he has had the possibility to have a good training session and he is good physically," the Italian insisted.

"I decided to make a substitution (against Forest) because on the morning of the game, when I spoke with Harry, he wanted to take the best decision, so I debated a lot his availability. I thought also during the game it was honest and was fair to give him a bit of a rest.

"I don't take a risk because also in three days we have to play another game, also because you know there is the World Cup.

"The fans must not be worried for him. After this game they (England) have one week, eight days to prepare for the World Cup, but he is ready because he is working very well and also we are talking about a player with great experience to manage his body."

Predicted XI

13:31 , Alex Young

Despite suggestions Djed Spence could start this afternoon, we’re going for Antonio Conte to bring Emerson Royal back into the team.

Here’s our predicted XI: Lloris; Dier, Lenglet, Davies; Emerson, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, Perisic; Kulusevski, Kane, Richarlison.

Confirmed teams to come in half an hour.

Score prediction

13:13 , Alex Young

Leeds have won two on the bounce to make significant strides up the table, but they will be facing a Spurs team with more firepower up front than in recent weeks.

The returns of both Kulusevski and Richarlison are so important and Leeds continue to ship goals at an alarming rate. Spurs rarely draw blanks and should see off Leeds to sign off before the World Cup.

Spurs to win, 3-1.

Bamford still struggling

12:54 , Alex Young

Patrick Bamford continues to struggle with a hip injury so is still not fit for Leeds, while Mateusz Klich picked up a knee injury in the midweek defeat by Wolves.

The pair are joined by Stuart Dallas, who has a broken leg, and Adam Forshaw’s dodgy ankle in the treatment room.

Jack Harrison is a doubt with a muscle strain but Joe Gelhardt is fit despite limping off at Molineux.

Will Spence start?

12:48 , Alex Young

Tottenham will be without Ryan Sessegnon, meaning Ivan Perisic should start at left wing-back and could be joined on the opposite flank by Djed Spence.

The summer signing impressed, amid a sea of poor displays, for Spurs against Nottingham Forest in midweek and is in contention to get more minutes today, though Emerson Royal continues to be preferred.

Elsewhere, both Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison are pushing to start, which could see a change of formation and, subsequently, Yves Bissouma drop out of the starting XI.
