Tottenham vs Newcastle United postponement latest after Met Office issue snow and ice warning
Newcastle United will be looking to continue their excellent recent form in their next Premier League clash away at Tottenham. Eddie Howe's side have won their last five games in all competitions, conceding just once, with that coming in the Carabao Cup quarter-final win against Brentford.
As a result of picking up 12 points in the last three weeks, the Magpies are up to fifth in the league table. Their Saturday opponents, Tottenham, on the other hand, struggled significantly over the busy Christmas period with no win in their last three and sit eleventh.
An improvement in results for Ange Postecoglou does currently look unlikely with his defensive injuries getting worse. Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario and Ben Davies are already ruled out, with Destiny Udogie now joining those on the absentee list.

Given the fact that Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray are expected to play their sixth consecutive game as a partnership, Alexander Isak will fancy his chances to take advantage of tired legs and continue his superb scoring run, having found the back of the net against Leicester, Ipswich, Aston Villa and Manchester United.
However, while slim, there is a chance the game does not actually go ahead with the Met Office issuing a weather warning for snow for this weekend. The majority of England was initially included, but since then an amber warning has followed for northern England.
With the fixture kicking off the gameweek 20 action and being in London, the current conditions around 12:30pm on Saturday are cloudy with sunny intervals but more importantly, no snow.
Though that would suggest the weather will not play a role, temperatures are close to freezing, and that could very easily result in ice. While there is almost no chance the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is impacted, the surrounding areas certainly could be, and for fan safety, the game could be postponed for that reason.
However, as the early kick-off, with the warnings in place from 9am on Saturday, it appears very unlikely the match will actually be called off, and thus Newcastle have the chance to go fourth if only for a few hours and also if they beat Spurs by a margin of four goals, which is certainly possible at the minute.
