Tottenham working on shock transfer for ex-Chelsea star to solve glaring Ange Postecoglou issue
Tottenham are working on a deal to sign former Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan. Ange Postecoglou is keen to strengthen his squad before the end of the January transfer window and the five-cap England international has been outlined as a target ahead of Monday's 11pm deadline.
Tomori has fallen down the pecking order at Milan this season. In fact, the 27-year-old has started just NINE Serie A matches in 2024/25. He has been a little more prominent in the Champions League, playing 534 minutes in that competition, and also helped Milan win the Supercoppa Italia earlier this month.
However, Tomori could leave the San Siro club before the window closes. According to Sky Sport Italy, Spurs are pushing to sign the former Derby County loanee and have 'overtaken Aston Villa' in the race for his signature. It's said that Tottenham are looking to secure a loan deal, as they bid to solve their defensive crisis.

Although Micky van de Ven returned from a hamstring injury for the 3-0 win over Elfsborg on Thursday, Radu Dragusin limped off after feeling 'discomfort in his knee'. The Romanian is unavailable for Sunday's trip to Brentford but the extent of his issue has not yet been confirmed.
Cristian Romero is still out, while Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie remain on the sidelines, meaning Archie Gray and Ben Davies have been forced to play at centre-back. Since both Van de Ven and Romero got injured in the same game against Chelsea in December, Spurs have kept just once Premier League clean sheet.
The potential arrival of Tomori would boost Tottenham's options in that area and give them some much-needed quality and experience for the rest of the season. Crucially, Tomori would not be cup-tied so could play in the FA Cup, Carabao Cup and would be eligible for the Europa League knockout phase, also.
Tomori started his career at Chelsea and broke into the first-team during the 2019/20 season after impressing out on loan at Brighton, Hull and Derby. Frank Lampard gave him his big break and he excelled, cementing himself as a key member of the Blues side as they battled a transfer embargo.
But Tomori's game time reduced in the following campaign and that forced him to go out on loan and join Milan in January 2021. He made the switch permanent that summer for £25m after an option in his contract was exercised. Tomori has been at Milan ever since, winning one Serie A title in the process.
He has clocked 163 appearances during his four years at Milan, scoring seven goals. Tomori grabbed an assist in their 2-1 defeat against Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday - a game that could prove to be his final for Milan.
