Tottenham have struggled in recent months due to an ever-growing list of injury problems, so Ange Postecoglou may be looking to bolster his squad for the final time this season.

The end of the January transfer window is almost here, and with transfer deadline day underway, Spurs could be tempted to bring in some new additions as they look to get their Premier League campaign back on track. Goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky was signed earlier this month, but with so many absentees, Ange Postecoglou's side have struggled, sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Players in nearly every position have been linked with a move to Spurs this month, but if the Lilywhites were to make any last-minute signings in the January transfer window, who could come through the door? We simulated the 2025 January transfer deadline day to find out...

Spurs' 2025 January transfer deadline day simulated

To set up this simulation, we used the Football Manager 2024 editor to simulate the final day of the 2025 January transfer window, seeing if Postecoglou would add anyone to his squad. This is what happened.

Incomings - £85million (£95million with add-ons)

  • Takefusa Kubo (Real Sociedad) - £48million

  • Jorrel Hato (Ajax) - £37million (rising to £47million with add-ons)

With Bayer Leverkusen open to offloading striker Viktor Boniface, Spurs did show interest in signing the Nigerian striker, but the Lilywhites ultimately opted against it, turning their focus elsewhere. Eventually, Postecoglou's side made two signings on deadline day, with the biggest of the two being Takefusa Kubo from Real Sociedad.

The Japanese winger made the move to north London for £48million, with the 23-year-old managing eight goal contributions so far this season for the Spanish side. Highly-rated Ajax defender Jorrel Hato also moved to Spurs on deadline day, with the Lilywhites fighting off interest from Liverpool to sign the 18-year-old for £37million, potentially rising to £47million with add-ons.

Outgoings

  • Jorrel Hato (Ajax) - six-month loan

  • Alfie Whiteman (Cambridge United) - six-month loan

  • Damola Ajayi (Crawley Town) - six-month loan

Despite Spurs' defensive problems, they were unable to keep hold of Hato for the rest of the season, with Postecoglou's side needing to send the Dutchman back to Ajax on loan for the rest of the season to make the deal work. With Spurs' squad thin as it is, only two other players departed the club on loan, with Alfie Whiteman joining Cambridge United and Damola Ajayi joining Crawley Town.
