'Tough one' - Chesterfield assistant shares update on Markanday loan
Chesterfield assistant manager Danny Webb says there are “muddy waters” over Dilan Markanday’s future at the club.
The winger has made 24 appearances fore the Spireites since heading out on loan in the summer, scoring seven goals.
Markanday was absent from the squad that lost on penalties against Rotherham in the Vertu Trophy last night.
After the final whistle at the SMH Group Stadium, Webb confirmed that the 23-year-old is currently not with Chesterfield.
"Dilan is a tough one,” he told Derbyshire Times. “At the minute he is not with us. I won’t go too much into that, the supporters probably want a little bit of clarity on it all.
“When you do take these lads on loan and they do well and they don’t belong to you, there is always a little bit of muddy water and a bit of confusion in that period between the crossover between them either coming back again and going back to their parent club.
“But as it stands, he is not with us.”

John Eustace was quizzed about Markanday’s future at his pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon.
The head coach said nothing had been decided at that point and that more conversations would be taking place before the end of the window.
“I have spoken briefly with the club about him but that is something we will have to speak about again. I am not too sure what Dilan is doing at the moment,” he said.
Chesterfield currently sit 10th in the League Two table – six points off the play-off places with a game in hand at this stage.
The Spireites are back in league action this weekend when they head to Grimsby, who are in ninth place.
