Town confirm Longelo departure to Salford City
Rosaire Longelo has left Swindon Town to join League Two side Salford City, the club has confirmed.
The move is subject to EFL approval, with no transfer fee appearing to have been involved in the sale.
The 25-year-old had only joined the club in July 2024 from Accrington Stanley on a two-year deal.
However, injuries limited the left-back to just six starts for the Robins, as he scored once in 21 appearances in all competitions.
A spokesperson for the club said: "Swindon Town can confirm Rosaire Longelo has left the club and joined fellow League Two side Salford City, subject to EFL approval.
"The 25-year-old has made 21 appearances for Town since joining in the summer transfer window, scoring once in our clash against Bromley back in December.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank Rosaire for all his efforts during his time with us and wish him all the very best for the future."
Despite arriving as a defender, Longelo had begun to find a space for himself in the starting line-up as right winger.
He now departs with 18 months remaining on his contract and no reported fee paid by Salford for the player.
Speaking before the transfer being confirmed, manager Ian Holloway suggested that Longelo's departure could create room for an extra addition to his squad.
Holloway said: “There might be one thing that has happened which will allow me to do other things, I think we are losing Rosaire and he is going to Salford.
“How that happened was that they want to offer him a longer contract than we can, we have got him for this year and next year and they want to offer him even more than that.
“When things come like that and you need to move someone out to get someone in then that is what dictates it.
“I would have loved to have kept him but I gave him the option to talk to them because of that extra year and I have heard he has passed a medical.”
The 25-year-old had previously come through the academies at West Ham United and Newcastle United and played in League One and League Two for Accrington Stanley.
He now swaps Swindon for Salford as The Ammies look to continue their push for automatic promotion, with the club currently sitting third in the table.
