Swindon Town legend John Trollope MBE is currently in hospital, the club has confirmed.

Trollope was a member of the historic 1969 League Cup-winning side and accompanied former teammates Don Rogers and Joe Butler in unveiling a statue of Rogers outside the Nigel Eady County Ground in November.

In a statement published on the club's social media, a spokesperson for Swindon Town said: "Sending our best wishes to one of our own, John Trollope, who is currently in hospital.

"Wishing him a speedy recovery."

Trollope has a special place in the hearts of many Town fans, having spent nearly forty years at the club as a player, manager and coach.

Born in Wroughton, he went on to make a club-record 770 appearances for The Robins between 1960 and 1980, before going on to manage the team from 1981 to 1983.

Trollope then spent over a decade as a youth coach as Town rose to the Premier League, departing the club in 1996.
